I was in a meeting yesterday with someone called Nyssa. She actually pronounced is "Nice-ah".

I told her that's wasn't how it pronounced on Traken.

    Actually I didn't ..... but I was dying to :-)

I would have lost the job and gone for it! Or at the very least hide in a cupboard going "Nyssa... Nyssa..." to see if she opened the cupboard and went "Grandfather!"

I have a customer called Tegan. We should get them together!

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

We've had quite enough of that sort of fan fiction, thank you!

I remember when I worked in the college library there was a student whose middle name was Tegan and she was born in 1982 - surely not just a coincidence...

I knew a Tegan once - young girl, spirited, spoke with an Australian accent...

In other news, we had the Jehovah's Witnesses on the doorstep last Saturday - the lady in question started to talk about thermodynamics, and I deeply regret NOT looking all knowledgeable and saying "the more you put things together, the more they fall apart, and that in essence is the second law of thermodynamics and I never heard a truer word spoken".

    I have a 3rd cousin called Tegan. I'm told it's a Cornish name.

I bought an old LP the other day, Ella Fitzgerald sings the Cole Porter Song Book, and there was a point in one track that kept sticking/jumping on the song 'Night And Day' on the line "like the tick, tick, tock of the stately clock".

I suddenly felt like I was Sylvester McCoy in The TV Movie...

Clearly he is waiting until he has completed his score for "Shada" before he dies, so why don't we put him out of his misery and let an old man rest in peace?

Jean Marsh did an interview about various roles she's taken on for the AV Club recently, here's what she had to say about her time in Who:

JM: I was in the very first series, I think, which has probably been wiped. I can’t remember what it was called, but I remember I played a Princess of France in the 10th century. That was just one episode. Then I came back as Sara Kingdom, sort of a space spy, fabulously ridiculous, wearing a catsuit of very tight, elastic brown tweed. Why one has to wear those sort of things… It was a bit like Joanna Lumley. It was just to show your body, I suppose. So I did eight episodes of that and turned from being a baddie into being a goodie. Then I was killed in a brilliant way. I was running—in my catsuit—away from someone who was trying to kill me, and he had an aging gun. And he hit me, and I started aging very quickly, and they had to keep switching my makeup, and then the last shot of me was of a very, very, very old woman. So that was terrific. Then the third one was Morgan le Fay with King Arthur. I loved doing that because they were beginning to take Doctor Who more seriously, and that was a bit more fun.

AVC: When that series first started it was all done on a shoestring. Was that fun to play around with and pretend all of this stuff was going on?

JM: Oh yeah. When I finished my four-parter as Morgan le Fay, we rehearsed, and I was supposed to have some kind of crystal ball. And I could see what was going on. For the purposes of rehearsal, I was given a sort of lampshade. And so I rehearsed with it and rehearsed with it, and then I said, “Look. We’re recording. We’re filming tomorrow. When do I get my bally, my crystal bally? I want to know what it is.” And they said, “You’ll get it tomorrow.” Well, morning came, and they said, “Well, we’re going to run-through and then shoot,” and I said, “Where’s bally? Where’s my bally?” and they said, “No. We’re just going to use that old lampshade.” [Laughs.] So it was very difficult not to laugh. That was real sort of cheapskate.
And for those interested, here's the rest of the interview: http://www.avclub.com/articles/jean-...o-retur,86258/

I re-read it recently in readiness for the audio version. It's good if a bit grim.
