    That Marc Bolan track was so weak... just sounded really thin and disheartened. Not a great start to this Thursday's show.

    So not exactly the glittering comeback for Marc then. Now I understand why The Cramps (who I don't think were much better) say they got inspired to form a band by Marc Bolan in his later years.

    In Bolan's defence, I Love To Boogie had been a top twenty hit back in July of '76, reaching number 13. Although the hits may not have been so big during the latter part of his career he still had one more big TV hit to come in '77 with the six part series "Marc" in which he showcased up and coming groups like Generation X, The Jam and The Boomtown Rats. The series proved very popular and would probably have gone on to a second series if not for the tragic accident while driving home from the party that wrapped up the series

    I see that Ed Stewart is hosting tomorrow's TOTP76. Now that WILL take me back to my childhood!

    Yes, one of only two surviving editions as presenter from 1976, the other will come in December.
