On the Torchwood thread, Perry Vale put forward the idea that Torchwood could survive a bit of recasting. In fact, it might be better for it (?!)

So in an ideal world, who would you get to play Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Rhys and the others? If they were to bring back Ianto, who else could they possibly get to play him? And why?

Could a non-Cymru actress play Gwen?

I'd like to see Torchwood become a franchise like America/Australia/United Kingdom & Ireland's Next Top Model. So when one series finishes, the next one begins the following week...

Well, keeping with the original nationalities, my all-star cast of living big(ish)-name actors would be something like:

Captain Jack Harkness - Tom Cruise
Gwen Cooper - Catherine Zeta Jones
Ianto Jones - Ioan Gruffudd
Owen Harper - Christian Bale
Toshiko Sato - Keiko Agena (okay, so she's Japanese-American, but there aren't many British-Japanese actresses!)
Rhys Williams - Matthew Rhys
Andy Price - Michael Sheen (oh yes, he's Welsh, dontchaknow!?)

That'll do for the main characters, I think!
