The UK trailer was 'This Season', so I reckon there's stuff from at least the next four or five episodes. Including THAT BIG EXPLOSION! and Captain Jack saying 'THIS IS MASSIVE!'

"This is massive!" is from episode two. He and Rex are comparing sizes at the urinal.

I hope he doesn't start combining his catchphrases - 'THIS IS MASSIVE!' and 'YOU GOTTA BE READY!

I'm interested to hear if the season trailer was in the US version, as I thought it showed a huge lack of confidence in the product. I've watched many US 'genre' style shows over the years, and can't think of any of them that would have pandered to such a low level as this.

I was really annoyed by the trailer too.

It's not just "Torchwood". I am sick to DEATH of programmes feeling they are so unconfident I'll tune in again that they have to show you great chunks of episodes you've yet to see to make sure. Who on EARTH thought that anyone who'd just seen Ep 1 of "Torchwood" wanted to suddenly have the edited highlights for the rest of the season thrust at them? What's the point in watching if you've seen enough bits to work out roughly what happens? I left the room while it was on!

All these BBC cuts we've been reading about, they certainly haven't cut the "Trailers" department!

I totally agree with everything you say, Si. The previous fifty minutes of the programme are supposed to make you want to watch more.

And before we go too off-topic, I do feel this is more a british thing, or am I imagining it? Lots of recent US shows don't have anything like it....24, Lost, Battlestar Galactica etc...

I just stopped watching. It seemed to last for a thousand years.

From what I've seen some American shows tend to go the other way, with massive recaps of season arcs at the start of episodes rather than great long trailers. I find those just as annoying, since it assumes the viewer can't recall details of a show he's been watching for several weeks.

I don't have any problems with that at all, personally. You could quite easily have missed an episode, not seen the show before, or missed important parts due to any number of things...a trip to the toliet/answering the door/phone, your PVR failing to record etc., etc...

I forgot to look last night, I'll try to remember tonight. I certainly don't remember anything going for 2-3 minutes, so I am sure it was just a next episode trailer. We got another next episode trailer after episode 2.

The trailer after episode 1 in US was indeed a 'next time' trailer and lasted less than 30 seconds.
