Default Starburst, SFX, TV Zone - Magazines

For no other reason than it's a good cover, thought I'd share this! Yes I'm just going through my old TV Zones and Doctor Who Monthly mags

I bought TV Zone for many years- up to issue 50 I think. I even did a couple of reviews for them around 1997....

I kind of preferred Starburst though. I found TV zone a bit flimsy.

TV Zone was a bit flimsy but what it covered was more up my street than Starburst.

Heresy! I remember TV Zone doing some fab stuff for Babylon 5 though. But you could read most of it in an hour.

    Is SFX still going?

    SFX will never die.

    Perhaps it's good again now!

    Ahem:

    http://www.starburstmagazine.com/

You have to register to read it, but it's all free and there's an absolute abundance of things of interest (and as far as I'm aware, registering doesn't let you in for any online promotions and stuff.)

It took two years of sorting out copyright issues to get it going (and it was never going to come back as a paper magazine), but it's quite impressive.

And the Doctor Who correspondent isn't bad, either.

    Ahem again.

Thought I'd co-opt this thread into a general one for Sci-fi mags that might mention Doctor Who.

Of course, far be it from me to mention SF-ing-X, or even Sci-Fi Now, but here's a magazine that might be worth subscribing to if DWM isn't filling your Sci-Fi shaped hole:

    http://www.starburstmagazine.com/subscribe

Starburst Magazine - The World's longest running magazine of Sci-Fi Horror Fantasy - Returns to print with ISSUE 374 on 14th February 2012.

We are working around the clock to bring you the Starburst Magazine that you know and love - but with so much more besides. The new Starburst Magazine will be the best Sci-Fi Horror Fantasy publication EVER. Absolutely the essential tome that you cannot live without...

I might give it a whirl...
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Well, you all know what I think about that...

I can reveal (this isn't supposed to be generally known yet, I don't think, but there's no harm in me telling you...) that Starburst will have a dedicated Doctor Who section in every issue!

I've barely bought any mags since the Internet was invented. But I may be tempted back by Starburst. The nostalgia value is immense.

I've still got a box of old copies in the attic, including the first three issues!

Incidentally, and I'm not saying this by way of trying to push the magazine because I'm in it, but the first couple of issues will be subscription only (presumably in order to fund the move back into publishing it nationally), and so are quite likely to become collectors' items.

Well, I was randomly going to pick a thread in order to say this, but then my eyes alighted on this one and it seemed the natural place in which to do so...

Merry Christmas everybody! And have a wonderful 2012!
