    Default Holiday Reading

Last summer in my week off I read "Provided you Don't Kiss Me" by Duncan Hamilton which covers his association, as a reporter, with Brian Clough.

It's not the sort of book I normally read but for some reason I found myself buying it and reading it down on the beach and enjoying it.

Anyone got any recommendations for a summer read?

    I'd recommend:

One Day by David Nicholls - highly entertaining, a romantic novel about two people growing up in the 90's and beyond.

Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell - a superb, dream-like book with various interconnecting stories, each more entertaining than the last.

Surface Detail by Iain M Banks - One of the best 'hard' sci-fi books I've ever read!

Dune by Frank Herbert - one of the other best sci-fi books I've ever read, plus it's set on a desert world so even if it's raining you'll feel warm reading it.

    Cheers for those ideas.

Bought Dr Who Touched By An Angel today - so enjoying that at the moment.

I really enjoyed The Instructions For Living Someone Else's Life by Mil Millington last week. Good story, intriguing premise.

Misery by Stephen King. If you've seen the movie but not read the book then do so. It's a real page turner even on the third time of reading as it was for me.
I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?
