Your Audiovisual Shopping List
Do you get things as and when you think of them? Or do you have a mental (or indeed physical/virtual) list of "definately will get" stuff coming up for release? Eventually, after noting down three of our forthcoming releases that I knew I really wanted, I have prepared a little list so I remember to order things. Here it is, as a snapshot of the time!
KYTV Series 3 - Out now but can't be bothered/afford to get
Torchwood 1.2 - 27th February 2007
3 x Dolly Parton album re-issues - 5th March 2007
Kelly Jones solo album - 19th March 2007
Extras Series 2 - 20th March 2007
New Hanson album - 30th April 2007
There we are! Feel free to share your own lists of stuff you are meaning to get!

I've pre-ordered the two Torchwood DVD's & Survival of course but usually I just order them as & when I think of them.
Although I'm waiting to pre-order the new Avengers DVD's when they get to the pre-order stage.

When you say the new Avengers DVD's, do you mean the new New Avengers DVD's or the new Avengers DVDs? Because the new New Avengers DVD's have been out a while, so really are only New Avengers DVD's, whereas the new Avengers DVD's really are new Avengers DVD's.

I've got Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Grudge 2, Saw 3 and Survival on pre-order at the moment, which means I'm doing well, at one point last year I had over 30 on pre-order!
Aside from those, theres lots I need to buy that I'll pick up when I see them going cheap, a couple of One Foot In The Graves, Bad Girls, Buffy...

We have about four box sets of Bad Girls still sealed, but we can't watch them with "Prisoner" on the go. They just don't both fit into the same evening. Maybe when we've caught up on "Prisoner" we'll do "Bad Girls" to fill up the overspill.
I don't see the point in pre-ordering the Who DVD's 2 months before release. How do you know who's going to turn out to be cheapest?

I'm not really bothered who's cheapest...I like and trust Play and they'll be no more than a couple of quid at most more than anyone else.
I went with Sendit for New Beginnings boxset and look what happened there! I'm not bothered about a few days delay but I still wouldn't have it now unless I'd cancelled and re-ordered!

That's a fair question. I meant the new "Avengers" DVD's not the "New Avengers" which I got last week.
I only order my Who DVD's two months in advance because I'm liable to forget to order it & I usually go with play.com although I got my New Beginnings from Amazon this time through the affiliation link that Pip put up.

We've ordered the new Air album, Crossroads vol 3 and The Goodies at LWT in the last couple of days.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I tend to have a sharp memory/mental image of what's coming up - I still have a couple of ongoing comedy series - Dad's Army and Steptoe & Son - which both have just a couple of series left. So I tend to check them on the Find DVD site every now and again to remind me of release dates/best prices, then get them when I'm ready/the price looks good. I've got a viewing backlog on both, so I don't need to get them especially quickly. Who ones again I keep an eye on the price, and get in there when I feel it's not likely to go much lower.
Then there's stuff like Life on Mars, Spooks and 24 - worth getting when bargain prices, but no rush as I've seen them fairly recently. So I just keep an eye on Find DVD.

I can only really justify one DVD a month, possibly two in a non-Who month, apart from special offers (such as the Alias one Amazon had a few months ago). Given that we don't have many non-Who months now, they tend to be from the BBC cult strand or one or two other select series.
The music side is a matter of record elsewhere.

Between Wayne, Milky and myself we probably have more footage than the BBC Film & Videotape Library.

Return Of The Saint is at the top of my shopping list at the moment, with Seasons 4 & 5 of 24 close behind. Star Trek TNG was 15.99 per season at Play.com a week or 2 ago when I got season 1, if this deal is still on I might get myself another season or 2 come pay-day. Also on my shopping list...The Avengers (when it finally appears!), along with The Persuaders, Blakes 7 and numerous Doctor Who's. No particular hurry for these last few though, I've already spent money on buying the videos a while back, and grudge spending it again on dvds. I'd rather spend my hard earned cash on something I don't already have!

One day, we'll have the fondly remembered Supergran on DVD.
Let's call it 'Disappointment Tuesday'.
We're also looking forward to Casino Royale and The Goodies at LWT. In the long term, there's Torchwood 1.2 and The Avengers, but personally I'd wait for price collapse before shelling out on either of those.Pity. I have no understanding of the word.
