I think when they were shorter it made them look even more alien, to be honest. The real innovation of the RTD Daleks was making them look sturdier. I'd like to see the sturdy RTD Daleks painted in classic series liveries, the silver of Death, the gun-metal grey of Planet/Genesis, the silver/blue/black of Evil. Now that would be a sight to see!

If Chris Chibnall's writing so much (as big a share of Amy and Rory's last hurrah as Steven Moffat is), does that make him odds-on as the next showrunner when Moffat leaves...?

It's no more than he wrote last time he was involved in the series, so I don't think we can read too much into this.

Plus Moffat hasn't actually given any indication of wanting to leave in the immediate future. By the time he does some of the current crop of writers may have also moved on to pastures new.
And let's be thankful Whithouse is only writing one episode that we know of (and at least it looks like a fun one).

I wasn't being entirely serious...
On the other hand, it might 'just' be two episodes, but they're separated by a third in between, so this marks Chris Chibnall out as the only person other than the then-current showrunner to have written two stories in a single series. And not only that, but - as I pointed out - considering Amy and Rory have only the five episodes left, it does strike me as odd that Steven Moffat has chosen Chris Chibnall to write as many of those five episodes as Moffat himself is.
I don't actually think there's any significance in all of this. I just think it was worth remarking upon.

But more importantly, as has been mentioned above - and despite Si's comments about it not having been thought about, those of us having to travel some distance have to plan ahead - I hope they announce broadcast dates pretty soon for the sake of the big PS Meet which I hope to make this year...the only problem being that I had (unofficially) pencilled in the final weekend of November and had regularly been checking hotel availability/prices for that weekend...thankfully I hadn't chanced my luck and booked somewhere, as a rethink is on the cards by the looks of it!!!

This will come as no surprise to anyone...
River Song will be in Amy and Rory's last episode. (I speculate as to why - before I actually knew she was going to be in it - in my podcast...)

Not to mention the fact that the Weeping Angels will also be returning in said story. Hopefully they'll return to the original, creepier, concept of the Angels - they didn't work so well second time round imo - set/filming photos can be found here

I meant the identity of the character she's playing. Possibly for plot reasons they've kept all information about this very quiet but I can't see how they plan to film 8 episodes without even letting out the character's name and I'd put money on the Radio Times blowing any surprise reveals in advance of broadcast.

The Daily Star tells us today that one of the five episodes in the can (this would be one of the Dalek episode, the historical episode, the Western episode, the modern UNIT episode, or the New York episode) is called Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.
My money's on the historically-set episode two. Well done Daily Star.Last edited by J.R. Southall; 22nd May 2012 at 3:25 PM. Reason: Just in case anyone wasn't aware of the settings for the five already-filmed episodes.

not sure if it's been mentioned yet on this thread but if my maths are correct episode 11 of series 7 should be the 100th episode of the new series quite a remarkable achievment by modern tv standards.I just wonder how many of us on P.S would of dared hoped back in 2005 that the new series would ever reach that milestone.
