I think the end of the episode would have been stronger if they had removed that whole scene in Amy and Rory's garden so only the Doctor and River know he's still alive.

Unfortunately I only tend to watch these episodes once so I don't necessarily pick up on minutae which may well explain the complex plots. To be fair to the series, maybe I should pay more attention, but I'm afraid I can't be bothered!

If Agatha Christie had written for Doctor Who, this is the story she would have penned.

Or alternatively that scene should have lead to a reunion with the Doctor which we didn't get, in that respect a nice scene was rendered rather pointless. Still I imagine we'll get the resolution at some point.
