The TEA thread!
This wonderful thread is for all things TEA! Whether it be green tea, black tea, white tea, herbal tea, roobios, tea pots, tea strainers, tea cups...
Let's talk tea!
Right now, I'm enjoying a nice cup of Japanese Bancha, which is a green tea, bought from the Tea Palace at Covent Garden, London - I like mine loose leaf, I use a tea strainer

Darjeeling or Assam are my big favourites. Don't often get the chance to make a pot at the moment, but I'm very fond of a drop of either of them.
Otherwise it's the Sainsburys Red label teabags. A very fine quality tea!

I'm enjoying a mug of English Breakfast tea at the moment.
I'm told by my Doctor that Roobios (also known as Red Bush) is a contributing factor the the rise in mouth cancer in South Africa & as such we no longer drink it here.

Decaff for me - Typhoo do good decaff, so do Twinnings and Sainsbury's Red Label (with a blue top).
PG Tips Decaff is HORRIBLE!

I'm not a great tea drinker lately as Viv only likes Tetley tea bags which are piss poor in my opinion, so I tend to drink more capuccino than anything else. I do have some lovely, loose leaf breakfast tea in the cupboard which I enjoy on a Sunday morning just before she gets up. I also enjoy Earl or Lady Grey, but for me that's a real treat these days, and has to be drunk from a real china cup not a mug.

Tea is nothing more than a foul infusion of disgusting pollution that ruins otherwise perfectly nice water.
BAN TEA NOW !!Bazinga !

I am rather addicted to the stuff, must go through 4 or 5 cups of the stuff a day at least. A lot more if I'm working from home that day.
Tend to just go for the standard brand stuff like PG Tips or Yorkshire Tea, rather then any of the specialist brew. Though I do enjoy the ocasional green tea.

When it comes to tea, we are unashamed tea snobs in this household.
We both tend towards loose leaf - we own two tea strainers, and two thermoses with strainers built in.
We have quite a collection, with numerous green, black and white teas. We don't tend to go in for roobios or herbal blends, although neither of us is adverse to flavoured black or green teas.
My favourite of our collection is this rather wonderful peach-flavoured white tea that I like to drink in the evening!
We also find that our favourite teas are stocked by either Teavana here in the US, or the Tea Palace in the UK (who rather fortunately do international delivery!)

Pretty much abandoned it in favour of coffee ... had one the other day, though, and it was fairly tasty.

Cheap anonymous tea bag brand and no sweetex or sugar at the moment.
I've still gone through a few today.

One of the great mysteries of life is why doesn't fruit tea taste as good as it smells? I'd drink more of it if it lived up to the promise of its aroma.
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I hear you. Angela has some raspberry tea that is just purple water, even after 15 minutes brewing.
On the other hand she has some Camomile tea that tastes EXACTLY like it smells...flowers!!

I never drink tea at home. I don't find most readily available teas that nice to be honest.
However, I spend lots of time- 3-4 hours at a time- in a wonderful oriental tearoom in Newcastle with its own little gompa area. Fabulous meditation or study environment, with over 100 teas to choose from- there's around 4 pages of caffeine free infusions too.

I LOVE tea houses! It's a shame that my favourite one in London closed shortly before I moved to the USA. I was looking forward to a trip back when I was next in town! Oh well...

I've been hooked on Earl Grey for the past decade. It's now reached the stage when regular tea seems a bit lacking in zest.
I've never got my head round coffee at all. It smells nice, but it's way too bitter for my taste, even with lashings of sugar, cream, milk, sprinkly stuff, etc.

I usually strive to improve the quality of food and drink, so I'm the sort to get into fancy teas but oddly I can't stand them! Herbal or rose tea, pah they just smell and taste like horrible perfumed water. The only tea I like is English Breakfast tea, so there!

When we move back to England, I will get you into fancy non-herbal teas, Si! We'll get together one Saturday afternoon, and have lots of tea and cake!

That would be lovely! I can't see it happening as you'll be too busy when you come back to have tea and cake with me, but if it did it would be lovely.

I have an odd quirk that I will not order tea when my friends have it in the pub. If I'm out I usually drink coke or mocca. I will always have tea when I'm at home or in the office (although I also drink water and coke at work) but I have an aversion to "paying for hot water" as a friend of mine describes it. However mention cake and I'm suddenly a lot more interested...
