Default Can You Pass the Britishness test set for Immigrants

Yesterday David Cameron unveiled changes planned to the Life in the UK citizenship test, which must be taken by all those seeking indefinite leave to remain or who apply for a British passport. Could you pass the test as it stands?

Note: The quiz is based on the official Life in the UK citizenship test. This is the current test those applying for a British passport are required to take, but be aware the test contains some out-of-date information. What would you change about the test if you could

so how much do you think you know about life in the U.K, can you pass the British test ..

You scored 15 out of a possible 24

You have failed, the pass mark was 75% According to the Life in the UK Test, you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain.
I didn't think that was bad though! Some of those questions are ludicrous.
The number of children and young people up to the age of 19 in the UK is...?
Why and how can you know this?

I got the same as Ant.

It'd be helpful if it told us what we got wrong & right.

16 - still not enough to stay.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?

If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

    Oh bugger - I got 9. I'm so deported!

I do agree with the idea of making sure immigrants can kind of allign themselves to the culture they're moving into.

As an immigrant myself, we were really careful not to come over to NZ and try and live our UK kind of life in a foreign country. You have to adapt to the rules over here. The only adjustment I can't make is that I have to buy special imports of mushy peas to have with my fish and chips.

However I do think most of those questions are kind of pointless. And love how they have a picture of Boris doing a kind of Nazi salute.

I scored 15, so I'm going too. Where shall we set up the Peoples Republic of Skaro then?

Well I've always been 25% Norwegian, if that conspiracy nut in The God Complex is to be believed then it's all going on in Norway...

I might just go and stay with Aunt who lives in Sweden as that's where I had my brief holiday in July.

Well I'd be deported, but what a load of bollocks that test is! How the hell is that information useful to anyone? Who cares what groups made up the bulk of immigrants in the 80s? A bunch of meaningless statistics, possibly the kind of stuff you might be expected to have to hand if you went into politics but not if you just want to live as an everyday citizen.

Upthread was a comment about 'aligning yourself to the culture you're moving to', but those questions really had very little to do with culture and were in fact a lot of arcane information.

    14. If the questions are so tough that the people who are born here fail the test, could the last person to leave the country please turn the lights off?
