I'm sorry, I forgot it's someone else's turn. You're not front of the queue are you...?

I don't know, I've lost the ticket with my number on it....

I've been catching up with Genesis (of the Daleks, not some old Phil Collins band) this past week, having taped it a couple of weeks ago. Three episodes in, and although it's kind of obvious I've been really struck this time by how superb Dudley's score is in this one. Maybe it's become so familiar over the years, by having been 'listened to' (ie, on cassette) as opposed to 'watched', and certainly I hum parts of it from time to time, but this time round it's really hit me. It's not as 'catchy' as City of Death maybe, but in terms of incidental music it could actually be Dudley's finest story.

I love the bit that accompanies Sarah and Sevrin climbing higher and higher to the nose cone of the rocket near the roof of the dome. One of my favourite bits of Dudley there.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

There are so many exceptional bits - Nyder's first appearance, the bit towards the end of part 1 as a limping foot follows Sarah across the wasteland, the build up to part 3's cliffhanger, Davros' entrance in part 2, the little bit that accompanies the Kaled prisoner talking about 'distronic toxaemia'... And I'm only partway through!!

Do you have a copy of the Heathcliff Blair CD which reproduces incidental music scores from various early Tom Baker stories including Genesis, Andrew? It's rather wonderful.

I believe I do, Ant, very kindly supplied by somebody a few years ago...

Tonight, part 4 - as well as more glorious music (the sudden 'gallop' as the massacre starts in the Thal city, for example) plus what is probably the most electrifying death scene in Doctor Who. Yes, of course, it's the death of the arch traitor, the Thal spy, Ronson!!!!!!!!!!!

    NO! DAVROS!

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Also a mention for that famous firm of solicitors, Kavell Fenton & Parren.

That's (probably) all you wanted to know.

Friday night Who this week was The Horns of Nimon. Wonderful!

What I love about it, that Nimon plan is actually pretty damn clever. It's sensible, it works, it's the Long Con!

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Where were they building that black hole, Soldeed...?

Finished off Genesis tonight with a double-bill - of course, how could I have forgotten another Dudley triumph, that slow build of music to accompany Davros' "Yes... I would do it..." speech. Mr Simpson was on fire when he did this one, but then to be fair it's such a good story it seems that everyone was having a good day - even the corridors are a cut above the usual!!

Planet of the Giants. It's a mission which is highly improbable!

Only not as good and lacking the presence of Nick Courtney!

Just to finish off a week of Daleky epicness, I've been watching The Parting of the Ways this morning. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but he dies in the end.

Then some guy called (hold on, let me check the spelling) David Tennant pops up right at the end. I wonder what he's going to be like...?

Babs: Did you see that giant fly?
Chesterton: Yes - it flew off

    Classic!
