Default "The Doctor Who Special Releases"

    What's this then?

    http://www.bigfinish.com/Doctor-Who-Special-Releases

    WHAT YOU GET:
    Doctor Who: Love and War
Doctor Who: the Eighth Doctor Box Set (5 discs)
Doctor Who: UNIT: Dominion Box Set (5 Discs)
The Sixth Doctor Specials (2 x Single CD)
I've no idea what any of these are (Love and War aside)! Another subscription for me to buy though!

The Eighth Doctor Boxset is the follow up to the events of the last 8th and Lucie season.

The Dominion boxset features the Seventh Doctor, Raine (from the Lost Stories), Elizabeth Klein (from Colditz and the Subsequent Klein Trilogy) and UNIT.

I have no clue whatsoever about the Sixth Doctor specials but I'm hoping they're something brand new!

Rather bizarrely they're putting up the prices on the individual items on December 17th 2011 however the discounted bundles of all the specials are available at the same price until next October when the first of the releases, Love and War, actually comes out.

Some news about this now up on the BF website.

Colin's getting another new companion apparently! He's already got Flip starting in January.

There's a long rambling post on the website today explaining how they're all mentalists for giving away this box set so cheaply so hurry up and pre-order it folks.

And the Sixth and Eighth Doctors both get new companions in their box sets here. My money's on Watling for 6 and someone played by Dan Starkey as the other one. The latter is a fair bet these days, whichever part you are talking about.

    Great minds eh?

I like the idea of doing more with Victoria but why are they only single CD stories? I'm worryingly reminded of The Maltese Penguin.

I think this may be a deliberate piece of misinformation but the latest issue of DWM mentioned that the UNITominion boxset includes Alex MacQueen (Many TV and film credits including The "not gay" Dad in The Inbetweeners) playing... "another Doctor"

Is it me or is the "Other Doctor" played by Alex MacQueen reminiscent of someone?

    Duncan Goodhew?

I wish they'd got Bambera back for this. There's no excuse!

I suspect there are reasons central to the plot why it features Klein rather than anyone else in the prominent role.
I don't think they've yet announced the full cast (I doubt they'll pull off a 4 CD boxset with just 4 characters!) so Bambera may yet return!

Oh and Si I'll PM you about what I was referring to as it might be considered a spoiler for something.

I was being a bit facetious with that comment but it's not actually a Big Finish spoiler. However if I say it in a forum post I imagine the Gods of Ragnarok will be very cross with me.

I may have had a bang upon the head, but those looked like dashed queer stories!

I suspect BF want us to make that connection but my suspicion is that it's referring to World War I. There was a mention somewhere (possibly twitter) that McGann is getting another new companion for these stories so possibly someone he meets in war-torn Europe.
Also the boxset is listed as "New Eighth Doctor Adventures boxset 1" suggesting this is not planned to be the final end.
