Liking the sound of the extras ... that second one could be the story of how Graham Williams came to be directing a large portion of the story. Sounds like an interesting mix!

I hope the documentary isn't going to be too negative about this one. Why? Becuase I love Nightmare of Eden, that's why!

    "Transmooder"
"They're criminals! That's what criminals do!"
    "I wondered why I hadn't been paid."

Not counting Shada, that just leaves Terror of the Zygons and that's Tom's tenure complete on DVD!

so do I it's a very under rated story that IMO is far better than most of the stuff we got in seasons 15, 16 and 17 so i'm certainly looking forward to it's release.

Nightmare of Eden is a superb story, and one I've not seen in far too long a time. And three stonking great cliffhangers!

There's some skulduggery going on there and no mistake. Do you think these days Clayton Hickman/Lee Binding gets his relatives to dress up as the stars of Doctor Who so he can photoshop heads on?

he's put a different head on Tom, but otherwise this is the one, just not so cropped...

    I stand corrected!

Dave is right though. All he's done is lightened the jungle but it makes it look blue which seems very wrong. It should be a jungly shade of green.

It's a very odd-looking montage (and definitely too pale). I don't like it at all!

This is a great story. It's chock full of great Tom lines:

"I don't work for anybody... I'm just having fun!"
    "I wondered why I hadn't been paid..."
"Have a jelly baby... and don't forget to brush your teeth!"

And it rattles along like it knows exactly where it's going. A few of the effects, like the Doctor running through the matter interface, are really good, and an awful lots happens very quickly.

It's one of those stories that is dreadfully cheap, but challenges you to say "Look, if I'm going to hold that against it, I've rather missed the point haven't I?"

I know how that feels lately, mine's on the way but I've got rather behind with the last one or two, I've not even got so far as unwrapping The Daemons yet. They'll keep.

This one was excellent. It really was. I know I'm somewhat biased with my love of this period of the show and all, but the fact that we interrupted watching The Daemons to do this DVD and polished it off in two sittings tells you a great deal!

The extras are somewhat perfunctory, but do the job of telling you what was going on during the making of this troubled production, but really it's the commentary and production notes that's essential. The commentary team are very good, with lots of excellent and well observed comments about the problems of getting this one onto the screen and the production notes add to that. Considering what they all went through, it's amazing we got this one at all really.
I know Lalla isn't a favourite commentator, but here she's fabulous. She's very clever, knows her stuff and her observations really carry some weight I think. Colin Mapson is good value too, remembering a lot of went on and very good on the visual effects side of the show, while Peter Craze, Joan Stribling and Bob Baker also add a lot. It's well worth a listen.

Peter Craze is a lovely chap. And he is Michael's brother (haven't got the DVD yet so I don't know if that's mentioned).

Like a lot of Season 17, this may be cheap but it's played deadly seriously. It exists in its own world and it takes that utterly at face value.

I love Stotz's little house on Eden. It's so cosy, and him turning the lights off before he leaves is a nice touch.
