Default Rufus Wainwright - Out Of The Game

    From his website:-

    Out Of The Game by
    Rufus Wainwright

    Available to Pre-Order Now
    Released on 23rd April 2012

Rufus Wainwright releases his eagerly anticipated new album, ‘Out of the Game’, April 23rd on Polydor. Produced by Mark Ronson, this is the 7th studio album from one of the very best contemporary songwriters.

The tracklisting has been revealed as follows:

    1. Out Of The Game
    2. Jericho
    3. Rashida
    4. Barbara
    5. Welcome To The Ball
    6. Montauk
    7. Bitter Tears
    8. Respectable Dive
    9. Perfect Man
    10. Sometimes You Need
    11. Song Of You
    12. Candles

Recorded in New York last Autumn, Rufus says that this is “the most pop album I’ve ever made”, whilst producer Ronson agrees that “it’s the best work of my career”. With a partnership as exciting as this, ‘Out of the Game’ is surely an album not to be missed.

Rufus will also be returning to the UK for shows in Autumn 2012 (dates and details are not presently confirmed).

I don't have any news, but I thought this thread needed a nice picture.

Let's hope "Barbara" is about Jacqueline Hill.

Seriously, with Mark Ronson producing and promises of pop, if I'm ever going to jump aboard this could be the time.

You are the market he is chasing, Si!

I'd recommend 'Release The Stars' as way into Rufus. But not 'All Days Are Nights (Songs For Lulu)' which is one of the most anti-pop albums he's done. That said, there are still some great tunes on it.

If it has a good tune, makes me dance, or makes me feel emotional, I will buy it.

I think I could stomach Jo Whiley for that. It's a good pay off.

A slightly more in depth interview with Rufus (well it could hardly be less in depth after Wiley!) was on Radio 3 this evening. "In Tune" with Sean Rafferty. Fast forward to 1 hour 38 mins and you'll find him there!

Rufus took my breath away at The Barbican tonight as The BBC Symphony Orchestra accompanied him as he sang his arrangements to some of Shakespeare's sonnets. And he looked simply divine too :-)

It'll be on the iplayer (Radio 3) for a week so do listen!!

Singer Rufus Wainwright asked his friend Helena Bonham Carter to star in his new music video and he convinced the actress to strip off for the racy promo.

The musician wanted a video to remember for his latest single Out Of The Game, and the Harry Potter star had no qualms about being filmed in her underwear.

He tells The Sun, "It features the two of us being naughty in the library. We have been friends for years. Not only is she very beautiful, very glamorous, but she is also incredibly funny.

"At the end of the video she is basically wearing a bra. So I very much appreciate her friendship for furthering my career."
    Which way to Wainwright-land...?

Rufus met The Queen at Westminster Abbey yesterday as part of Commonwealth Day. He sang "Hallelujah"

    Default Free download!!

You can download a new track from Rufus' new album FOR FREE here at the Amazon UK website:-

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...SIN=B007N36UE2

It's free I tell you - free free free! The track is called Rashida.

Now as you know I'm a bit of a Rufus fan (!) but I honestly think this is one of the best songs he's ever done. It's a bombastic little piece, but I absolutely love it! If you haven't dipped your toe (or any other part of your body ) in the world of Wainwright, now's your chance!

Rufus is on Graham Norton this week. Not sure if he's talking or singing (or both!)
