I hope the out-takes are better than last year's.

My ten hour four disc set of series 3 extras is nearing completion.

Maybe if he didn't spend the whole year pottering about with a video camera he'd have enough energy to make Season 5 next year!

Over 100 minutes of ropey handheld video camcorder footage? That sounds like the Blair Witch Project...*

At least with these valuable extras space isn't being taken up with those useless old deleted scenes, eh?

Are they including the (very!) cut-down Confidentials this time around? I still think it would be better to edit these together into a big exclusive 'making of' feature, rather than just slapping them onto the DVD as they were broadcast. It would be better than lots of video diaries, too.

I believe so, I think I've also seen BBFC clearances for them.

I wouldn't even get that if it was cheap! A few trailers, some video diaries, a small fraction of the possible deleted scenes and the cut-down Confidentials make for a pathetic extras package. We'll stick with our lovely cheap vanilla releases, which look nicer on the shelf anyway.

Much the same as it was last year then. No surprises really. Makes a nice Christmas present though.

    That sounds like fun.....
    Easter Egg
At least they haven't forgotten this!

    And......two commentaries from Murray Gold?!

Nice to see those S1 deleted scenes are still lost somewhere between Cardiff & London.

It would need to be a "peel back and see" scuddy cover to tempt me this year.

I don't think those extras are any more disappointing than those we've had on previous sets, but they still don't seem hugely inspiring. It's particularly disappointing that there are fewer actors appearing on the commentary tracks - it would have been nice to hear more Freema, and also the likes of Jessica Stevenson, Dean Lennox Kelly, Mark Gatiss, Carey Mulligan, even John Simm.

However, as usual, the sheer quality of the series makes this, for me, an essential purchase. Just a shame that they seem to have missed some opportunities again.

God, I've turned into a right moaning sod.

I don't know whether the price has been mentioned on this thread anywhere, but I notice DVD.co.uk have it at £49.89 which seems pretty good.
