New Series DVDs/ Blu Rays
The first 'Vanilla' is due on 2nd April, containing just 'The Runaway Bride' & (allegedly) the CiN 'Music & Monsters' concert. RRP 15.99, cat.no BBCDVD2380. I look forward to it's release.

I won't be buying this as Series Three is where it all goes tits up.
I look forwad to the huge press/fanboy backlash after Martha's first episode.

It's an interesting move, they must have a lot of confidence in The Runaway Bride for it to stand on it's own. More than The Christmas Invasion, anyway! I think they might find their confidence misplaced though, The Rummyway Bridlepath doesn't seem to have that many fans on this forum at least.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Not necessarily so - they've done a 4-episode vanilla before (Long Game-Doctor Dances)... perhaps they were just able to get the rights to the full Confidential programme (it being predominantly in-house music and not lots of pop songs) and wanted to include it.

Am I the only one who think's it's just an attempt to make box-set buyers get the Vanilla because it has something that may not be in it (the concert thing)?

Or perhaps they're splitting it up so that there's an RTD story on every DVD again. Age of Steel/Rise of The Cybermen/Idiots Lantern is still the only RTD Free DVD.

If only such things were given away. Gee, I'd love for me to see a free RTD free DVD!

I think you misunderstood my point. If they put ep.3.1 with TRB, that would leave 12 episodes over 4 volumes. Keeping the two-parters together (ie. eps. 2,3,4 & 5 on V2) would mean a volume down the line having only two 45 minute episodes, which would look like very bad value for money.

have to say I'm seriously considering buying the vanilla releases for series 3 as I've been very dissapointed with both the series 1 & 2 box sets in terms of extras.

We do. Let's face it, they're only about 7 on-line. That's just 'tuck shop' money really, and we get to see them sooner and avoid the expensive box set which leaves off all the extras.

Well I'll be buying the Runaway Bride DVD because I want the Concert. It's very personal to me. And I missed it when it was on interactive.

See, with a little imagination, photoshopping can give you good DVD covers. (As several people, including Pip, have shown already!)

Am I right in thinking the Runaway Bride disc doesn't have the concert, only the documentary?

You are right in thinking that.
