I think they're on the all features in that series as they were on the first one that was done for the TVM special edition.

It's not often you could say that 'The Krotons' is one of the best ever.

It brings back happy memories of the VHS covers when they were at their finest.

A Binding, indeed! There aren't enough concentric circles for it to be a Hickman!

I wish it was missing and we had the first four episodes of "Power of the Daleks" instead.

Episode 1 of this story looks better than any other episode of 60s Who.

    That's all for now.

I know this story isn't reveered, but I adore it. When you have Troughton, Hines and Padbury at the top of their game, you get something special on screen, and their chemistry washes all over this story. The Learning Machine scenes in part 2 are some of the best comedy in the entire series. Very, very well played, without being too silly or them stepping out of character. Zoe's haughtiness, Troughton's clumsiness and Jamie's feistiness all combine into a winning TARDIS team.

The DVD was a good one. Fitrstly the picture quality is amazing. It's by far the best looking 60s story out there. Crisp, delicious black and white goodness.

The extras are fine too. Nothing specifially on the story, but since the regulars didn't think much of it, that's probably for the best. The overview of the Troughton era was up to thigh standards set by the look at season 3, and follows much the same formula- a story by story look over the era. It works well here because there are so many missing stories and so we hear little snippets about them all. What's surprised me is some new info- Peter Bryant not getting on with Troughton, Terrance Dicks on the scripting crisis of season 6 and Anneke asked to stay on with Jamie and the ditching of Micheal Craze. Great stuff along the way from Anneke, Frazer, Debbie and Wendy- all of whom come over very well indeed. Backed up by Rob Shearman who is always good value and Gary Russell, who's also very good- this is an outstanding dicumentary.

Doctor Who Tales- Frazer Hines features an outstanding title sequence that made us giggle and some more Frazer stories. He's always good value and seems to remember everything, which is really nice. Could have listened to more from him!

The spirited defence of The Krotons by Joe Lidster and Simon guerrier is fine. The owl was slipping all over the place though!

Good commentary from lesser heard people this time was good- some lovely recollections and stories.

    So a great release!

Thanks Stuart. I always feel this story gets an unfair kicking that it doesn't really deserve. There are far worse stories than this.

If nothing else it's a damn sight better than The Dominators!
