Classic ITV Chart Show Repeats On The Vault
They've been repeating full editions of The ITV Chart Show every Saturday morning on The Vault music channel (Sky 356) since the start of December. Twelfth week of repeats and I just get round to starting a thread on it.
They're just showing random episodes so far. Those already shown are:
2/12/06- 1992 Xmas Special
9/12/06- June 1st 1991
16/12/06- May 17th 1997
23/12/06- 1996 Xmas special
30/12/06- January 19th 1991
6/1/07- May 2nd 1998
13/1/07- November 16th 1996
20/1/07 - January 11th 1992
27/1/07 - September 27th 1997
3/2/07 - October 12th 1991
10/2/07 - February 14th 1998 (with special Love Chart)
17/2/07 - June 6th 1992
I just caught the midnight repeat of the episode from 6th June 1992.* All the classic hits from my final month at school.
Take That - 'It Only Takes A Minute'
The Mission - 'Like A Child Again' (Rock Chart- even though it looked like a piss-poor Wonder Stuff rip )
Ugly Kid Joe - 'Everything About You'
U2 - 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' (Video Vault track)
The Beautiful South - 'Bell Bottomed Tear'
Elton John - 'The One' (#9)
Utah Saints - 'Something Good' (#6)
Erasure - Abba-esque EP ('Take A Chance On Me') (#1)
Sadly, they skipped past Extreme ('Song For Love'), Alice Cooper ('Feed My Frankenstein'), Kriss Kross ('Jump') and Richard Marx ('Hazard').
Tori Amos' 'Crucify' was the "Next Week" clip at the end. Think I've actually got the original broadcast on the end of a tape somewhere!**
It's great to see how different their chart was from the official one. Faith No More's 'Midlife Crisis' was #5 in yesterday's show (only reached #10 on the official chart) and Bryan Adams was down at #3 a few weeks ago (the October 12th 1991 show) when he was still top of the "real chart".
* found it on the BFI/Chart Show database
** Big Erasure fan in those days. Only way to get all the Abba-eque videos.Last edited by Milky Tears; 18th Feb 2007 at 1:55 AM. Reason: link

I don't think I've got this channel on NTL, otherwise I'd try and catch some - I used to like the charts in the 20th century!

It used to be so frustrating when they skipped a song you liked and then played a dull one.

This week's repeat was from November 14th 1992. The Hotshot was Lionel Richtea's 'Love Oh Love'. They were tipping it for Christmas Number One!! Sadly, it was only a No. 52 smash.
Apart from that, the charts were full of dance stuff from Rage, Felix, K-Klass, Undercover and The Shamen. Boyz II Men, Arrested Development and Charles & Eddie were the top three.
Only worth watching for Vanessa Paradis and her excellent 'Be My Baby' video.

Someone on Digital Spy emailed them about that. The reply spouted some stuff about them being unable to play the older one inch tapes, or something. I think the audience is too small (probably less than 10,000 viewers) to justify them shelling out big bucks to get the tapes transferred to a playable format.
Looks like they're only showing episodes from 1991 onwards.
