The New Titles and Theme!

Terror of the Autons, The Mind of Evil and The Claws of Axos use the Troughton theme on the opening titles but not the end titles as the stinger and electronic scream are present.

During the first part of the Pertwee, they swapped and changed between the version with the middle 8 and the version without. It was starting with The Time Monster they began to use the version without the middle 8 as the preferred choice.

I often wonder why they did that?
Was it simply just a case of the production staff not being able to tell the difference or was there some reason that the Partwee version couldn't be used all the time?
It does seem a little odd for something to go backwards like that!
Maybe they were just experimenting?

I think they just weren't paying attention perhaps? Or maybe like all the differences in the titles they were playing around and trying to find out what they wanted as standard.
