    Default Cat Copter

I've just seen this video of the flying dead cat - which admittedly sounds awful if you haven't heard the full story about how some artist has (after a supposedly suitable time of mourning) had his ex-cat stuffed, and then made it in to a helicopter that he can fly around, bothering cows.

At first I thought it was all a bit horrible, but then, I don't know, it's not like the cat suffered in any way, and somewhere up in pet heaven he may be having a wry smile at his body's antics, especially as he had always hated cows (possibly).

It still feels a bit tasteless, but then taxidermy in general does to me, but I guess if you want to have a fond memory of a lost pet, this could plausibly be the way to go. I know that if I died and someone did this to my corpse, I'd find it quite amusing.

But how does everyone else feel?

You couldn't do that with a living cat, could you?

I'd hope that no-one would think to try.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

    Of course they wouldn't!

It's undignified, but then do cats care about dignity?

What did the poor cows ever do to him?

I certainly wouldn't want my cat exposed to that level of indignity when her time comes!

I don't know what's worse, the lack of respect for the poor pathetic creature's corpse or the fact that people find this "entertaining", a spectacle without wit, joy, elegance or intelligence.

I'd like to think there'd be dignity in death for all creatures.

My friend wants to be cremated and her ashes used as an egg timer. I quite like that idea!

Sorry, but I'm one of the ones who finds it "entertaining"....

Um, have you ever had a cat?! IME they are very aware of their own dignity!

I think it's a bit sick really. Playing around with dead animals squicks me out.

I think they key to this is to remember that the person who made the catcopter considers himself to be an artist.

One can do anything in the name of art these days, whether it's an unmade bed or a dissected shark.

As for what I think of it? Would I have one of my rabbits stuffed and turned into a helicopter when it dies? Absolutely not. Am I offended by this? No, not really - it's not like the cat was killed to be turned into this. It didn't suffer.

I'm not particularly entertained by it, either. Just not really offended.

Would people who arn't offended by this be offended if the corpse of a relative was hurled through the air in the same way?

    It's an angle.
