Terrible, all the information released suggests that the whole incident was entirely planed and premeditated. Witnesses report that before opening fire the gunman used some kind of gas cannister. As a result many chemical injuries have been reported amongst the wounded.

Why?

This is the question that has kept me gripped to the whole story and hunting for updates. From what I've read, this was a fairly normal person, working on a degree with no connection to anything criminal and whose only crime had been a minor road offence (either a parking or speeding ticket). What drove someone like this to (apparently) convince themsleves that they're The Joker (as he's claimed) and perform this massacre?

What frightens me about this matter is that, at that age, I had my fair share of anger temptations, getting so upset at the world around me that I wouldn't have minded going out on a rampage - and I believe that many others have felt the same way at some point or another. What's the difference between Holmes, myself, and the rest of us that made him do this while the rest of us have managed to quench the rage?

I have to admire Christian Bale and his wife for visiting the survivors and families of victims. I'd have thought he'd have wanted to avoid the risk of association but actually whatever his agent or publicist may have thought it was the right thing to do.
