"Did you do all my ironing for me, Harry?"

    "Well actually, yes Doctor."

"Did you leave these scorch marks in all of my shirts, Harry?"

"Now I know what it looks like -"

    "HARRY SULLIVAN IS AN IMBECILE!"

Yes, we all saw that coming...

"Unfortunately in the office where I work if you are seen to take anything near like a normal lunch break you are seen as uncommitted and lazy. We need to get away from the culture in this country in that unless you are stressed out and regularly work more than your contracted hours, you are seen as a slacker."

That quote came from a BBC comments thread - and I couldn't agree more!

They'd think I was terribly slack- i have an hour and half each day while the libraries are closed for lunch. This culture of working through your lunch hour is terrible- it's a statuory entitlement.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

My boss never takes a lunch break and rarely leaves on time. People that live like that are doing it wrong.

I've had one or two jobs where you do a full 9-to-5 day, and you only get a 30-minute lunchbreak. And I left my first job at the end of my initial six-month contract because they wanted us to work twice as long for half the pay. You couldn't make it up, you really couldn't.

The dread hour awaits at last... Myself and the other researcher finally have a meeting with our new boss tomorrow!

Meanwhile I've just posted my student loan application and have confirmation class tonight.

The trouble with feeling relieved is that I then managed to spend most of the last half hour having one of my famous power naps at my desk. Hope no one noticed.

It's when the naps can only be measured in geological time when you should start to worry.

Is the new boss even remotely human?

Much more than his predecessor, my former boss walked past earlier (she still works on the same floor for our exhibitions division) and I had an overwhelming sense of evil... it was eerie.

Are you sure that wasn't emanating from me? Everyyone knows I'm noted for my disturbing emanations.

    I'll rephrase that...

Quite honestly a disturbing emanation would be welcome distraction right now...

Back to torturing Brendan again. It's a tough life.
