Interesting documentary on Labour's 1983 election disaster, with their manifesto being dubbed "the longest suicide note in history". There's archive interviews from Michael Foot and Denis Healy and current reflections from Neil Kinnock & Jack Straw among others. It was broadcast on Saturday night on R4 and ready for you to grab on the iPlayer!

There's a Paul Magrs drama on this afternoon at 2:15 - "Imaginary Boys". It's about an alien who lands on earth to narrate 17yr old David Taylor's life. I'll try and catch up with this on the weekend!

Do try and listen to Imaginary Boys if you can - it's only on the iPlayer for a few more days, and it is rather wonderful! Boy meets Boy Alien, Boy falls in love with Boy Alien. Why didn't they have this storyline in Grange Hill?

It was good, but I do a bit annoyed sometimes at the way he uses and reuses ideas, so that if you're a big fan of his work, you sometimes know where the story is going because you've read/ heard the same thing done in a different range.

It's always satisfying finding a good new comedy on R4. Tom Wrigglesworth's Hang Ups (Weds 6:30pm) is just of those finds!
It's all about the sometimes bizarre conversations you find yourself having with your parents on the phone. I certainly recognised a lot of my Dad when Tom's Dad was having a rant!
First episode is still on iPlayer - highly recommended!

Tmw 11:30am - "Houses of Horror". Matthew Sweet looks at the rivalry between Hammer & Amicus during the 60s and 70s.
Sounds like my kind of programme!

Douglas Adams wrote Hitch-Hikers whilst playing "Wuthering Heights" in the background CONSTANTLY. It was like his mantra to prepare his mind for writing. So it looks like Ms Bush has been indirectly responsible for that work of genius. To quote the great lady herself - Wow!

"The Music Teacher" at 11pm tonight. It's only 15 mins long but very funny. Do listen or listen again if you can't catch it live. That sentence doesn't quite make sense - but you know what I mean!
