Terry Nutkins has died
I am sorry to have to report that the BBC have announced the death of TV presenter Terry Nutkins. He will probably be remembered by most of us as a presenter of the popular childrens series The Really Wild Show.
He was 66 years old and had been receiving hospital treatment for Leukemia.

I remember him from his Animal Magic days with Johnny Morris. Far too young an age to go :-(

R.I.P. Terry.
I marvelled at you playing with Ron the tarantula. Always had this idea of you doing a workshop with arachnophobics about how they are not as dangerous as the media made them out to be.
I loved the Really Wild Show. You were a proper expert.
But my main memory of you is appearing on Johnny Morris in a fly costume, and ducking because you were able to see what was behind you.
These days to get on a wildlife programme, it seems you have to bother the animals to show them how dangerous they can be... as opposed to how magnificent they are.

Aww, how sad. He was an icon of my childhood from Animal Magic to The Really Wild Show and of course for that song he did about the whales or dolphins or whatever they were.
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I think it was Gemini the sealion.
Terry and Johnny Morris were the first kids' presenters i rememer who had a real enthusiasm for animals, something which only Chris Packham and Steve Backshaw have cottoned onto since: keep the viewers interested and they'll remain interested - the Johnny Ball Factor.
RIP Terry.
