Themed Logo
I never noticed at first, but on re-watching I picked up on the fact that Dinosaurs on a Spaceship had a different Doctor Who logo in the opening titles compared to Asylum of the Daleks. Now, it turns out that for at least the first 5 episodes of this series, we will get a different logo for each episode.
Asylum of the Daleks
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
A Town Called Mercy
Do you think this is quite a good idea? Or, do you think that for consistency, the logo should remain the same each week?I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

They do seem to be carving out a separate identity for each story. It goes with the 'stand-alone' idea that we've been promised for this year, rather than having the ongoing mysteries.
I suppose it's a bit of extra excitement every week - what new logo will we have now? But it's an insane idea really!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

The opening titles are tweaked for colour too, I believe.

Will the 'Angels Take Manhattan' title only disappear off the screen if you blink?

The colour of this week's titles was definitely gween. An ichy gween pallor over the screen.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

To be honest, these might work a lot better if the title was a lot larger in the frame. But as it is, you really need a 60" television set to be able to appreciate them. Watching on a PC, I barely even noticed there was anything different about the logo until somebody pointed it out...

I've got 42" TV and even I didn't notice the difference untill my second watch.
I don't like the themed logo. The opening titles are very poor this series and look like they were knocked up by a first week apprentice via movie maker.Last edited by duncan; 15th Sep 2012 at 5:48 PM.

As usual they hyped this up to the extent that what would have been a nice surprise actually come over as us losing something. This is how Radio Times sold it to us:
Doctor Who premiere - new title sequences, Matt Smith on Twitter and a Big Surprise!
Steven Moffat reveals there'll be new opening credits for each episode but asks the audience not to leak the strange occurrence in Asylum of the Daleks
If they'd just said nothing, it would have been a nice little quirk.
Si.

"Every Dalek ever" was also a strapline that should have been underplayed - and then some. Actually it should have been buried.
