It's entered the DVD chart at number 25, as can be seen here.
Meanwhile, I finished off Traken this afternoon. Not only is the picture nice and sharp, but the audio is good too - certainly I'd never noticed all the bird sound in the Grove before!
As I mentioned above, I never saw part 4 nor Logopolis part 1 first time around, and I remember getting back to school to be advised that the Master was back, which took me aback! The odd thing though is that it's quite clear towards the end of part 3 of Traken that it's the Master when he turns to camera, plus you can clearly hear a TARDIS as the Melkur leaves and reappears. That obviously bypassed the then 11 year old Jonno!Last edited by Jonno; 11th Feb 2007 at 8:16 PM.

We've started "Castrovalva". The location film looks lovely and clean.
We've only done a few minuted of random bits of the "Logopolis" commentary but we did hear Christopher Hamilton Bidmead say "and this marvellous bit of writing causes the Doctor and Master to work together" or something very like that. How modest he is.Last edited by Simon R; 11th Feb 2007 at 11:26 PM.

If he's proud of his writing then why shouldn't he say so? I would!

Or a writer who keeps telling you how clever he is.

I haven't heard it, but is he definitely bragging, or is it a bit tongue-in-cheek?

His tongue is too busy working to be in his cheek.

I heard him criticising his writing more than praising it.
I rather like it though.

I got this the other day as present for my birthday. Me and Tabs watched the first 2 episodes of Traken last night. I never realised how bad some of the acting is!
Tabs liked the Melkur and kept referring to it as a cyberman. The Keeper himself was according to her, Father Christmas.
Then after she'd gone to bed I watched the continuity announcements on Castravalva. God they were tacky. And quite funny in places. Some of the late night BBC programmes had some very iffy sounding names. Even Jody enjoyed watching these.

I found Bidmead quite fair about his writing, sometimes he was still excited by the ideas and sometimes he found himself 'terribly cliched'. That's how he described Nyssa and Tegan's journey to Castrovalva anyway.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Yes! Thats the one that made me laugh!
It sounds like something made up for a comedy programme.

It used to be an ongoing joke in our household as my dad was known as Big Jim.

According to our British Comedy Guide, "Big Jim" featured Sylveste(r) McCoy and was brought back or remade on radio in 1987 with Bernard Cribbins taking the place of Bob Hoskins.
It's good for the kids to know.

Working my way through the Traken extras - Swap Shop was nice and nostalgic for me - I remember watching that edition and particularly the clip with Nyssa and Adric in the Grove. The kids on the phone were so well mannered and well spoken in those days, weren't they?!
John Black reminds me of Terry Nutkins!

After spending all last week watching these, I fear we'll have to watch them some more tonight as we missed the Castrovalva Easter Egg (*** available by pressing left on the Audio Options on the menu screen, apparently).
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

We still haven't got round to watching the final episode in this set. Tonight's the night though. It's gonna be alright.
The phone-in's are like death. None of the kids actually want to know the answers to the questions they ask.
"What's your favourite colour?"
"Blue."
"Oh right. Thanks. Bye."
Si.

Ooo, I can't stand the phone-ins! They make me squirm. The only half-decent question I've ever heard on a phone-in was when they had Eric Idle. Someone called in and asked "Your wife. Is she a go-er? I mean, does she go?"
Most of the time it's some poor kid and the interviewee doesn't hear the question properly and they've spelt their name wrong on the screen. And then they want an autograph sent to them or they want to say hello to 'East Hill Primary School' and the presenter isn't interested and doesn't want to give them the time.
And Noel Edmonds I find very creepy.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Tabby asked to watch "Big Doctor Who" again last night so we watched Part 3 of Keeper. She got a bit bored though and started playing with the dvd case.

I could quite happily never see the Keeper of Traken ever again. Tabby has become obsessed with it, constantly asking to watch it. She seems to like the Melkur, which she calls "Man". In the last few days I must have seen it about a dozen times and not always in order!
She did watch some of Logopolis but then demanded Traken! Yesterday was good though because i persuaded her to watch City of Dead which she liked because of the "scary monster".
