New Years Resolutions
It's that time again! What are yours?
Less is my watchword for this year. Waste less, spend less, stress less and eat less meat. No moral revelation for the last one, I just want to experiment with more vegetarian meals.
Si.

It's difficult to know what I want right now. Life is so different to this time last year that i don't quite know where I am, let alone what I want to achieve!
So I'll resolve to have some great holidays, appreciate every minute I get to spend with Steve and be the best friend I can be to all the people who will no doubt help me get through all the times I'm alone in 2013.
Oh and I shall also set a fiendish 30 years of The Five Doctors quiz too.
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I'm going to learn how to play Bridge this year. I've always enjoyed playing card games, but Bridge has always eluded me. Not any more!
Oh, and find a better job too. Maybe I should have mentioned that first :-)

As always, I'm giving up booze for January.
Beyond that, I'm going to cut out chocolate, sweets and fizzy drinks, and aim to go to the gym at least three times a week - with the aim of getting slim and healthy again

I have resolved to not make any New Year Resolutions.
For every fail, there is an equal and opposite win.
...Oh, who am I kidding?

Found a new charity - the Keep Wallis In Dosh Society (KWIDS for short). Naturally The Lads will be on the board of directors. The most keepable new year resolutions are the habits of a lifetime...

Hmmm - difficult one this. I think a New Years resolution is really an attempt to fix something that happened or felt was missing from the current year.
I started 2012 knowing it would be a challenging year, but although it's been successful, it's been a terrifying year. I've hinted at it, but I was close to going into care for depression in August because I had just pushed myself too hard (or rather let myself be), and had to deal mentally with the consequences.
I started 2012 saying to myself to be wary of taking too much on, and knowing when to say NO. And although I did (thank goodness), perhaps didn't do it enough.
I'm saying all this because when I say my resolution is "to put myself first", you'll understand it's not me being completely selfish. Here's to good mental health in 2013!Remember, just because Davros is dead doesn't mean the Dalek menace has been contained ......

New Year's Resolutions? Hmm. Actually doing some team leading would be good, what with being a team leader and all. Perhaps I should focus on that.
Also Simon Hart. Nothing specific, just Simon Hart.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Well this year I finally achieved the resolution I have made every year for about 6 years, so I need a new one.
This year, I shall endeavour to take what is mine and leave the rest. Why build an engine when you have a perfectly good whale?

My resolutions for this year are to finally buy my wretched flat, learn to play guitar, learn to swim, learn German, and possibly find a new job which is more rewarding and enjoyable.

My resolution for this year, again, is to lose around 60 lbs and be somewhat fit.
I've made half-hearted attempts in the past to learn both German and to play the guitar and failed miserably due to my own severe lack of both self-discipline and dedication. Good luck to you.

Thank you.
Learning German is a very personal and important choice because my girlfriend is from Hamburg. As for guitar I've being thinking about it for a while, I think Wayne gave me some advice once, and I've started playing the D chord. It's keeping my fingers in the right place which is tricky.

I wanted to learn German because my ancestry is German. I failed miserably in High School and had to drop the class. I tried the Rosetta Stone software a couple years ago and learned a few words but then got bored and stopped using it. Last year I bought the Rocksmith video game for PS3 and a used Squier Stratocaster. The game comes with a cord that plugs the console or PC into the guitar and then reads the notes or chords... it's a bit like Guitar Hero or Rock Band but with a real guitar and the focus is on teaching you to play it, which it does. It doesn't teach you music theory though so you have to learn that on your own.. I just ended up never finding enough time for it. I did learn to play bits of a few songs though. Justinguitar.com is a really, really good place to learn more traditionally and is completely free. A friend of mine who already plays found it to be really good and really liked the advanced lessons. I'd still like to give it a go on there someday if I find the time.

I'm learning the guitar, Darren. I spent the first year teaching myself from several books including Fast Track: Guitar - book one.
It's not a bad book & will teach you string by string & a certain amount of music theory. I recommend learning to read music as well as tab. Tab is easier and faster but limiting.
I'm having guitar lessons every couple of weeks & learning from the Rock School series of books. These are better if having lessons but the Fast track I found better if you're teaching yourself.
