Yay! Got mine too- it'll be good to see them on the big screen again. At least this time they'll look pristine- the prints we saw last time at Riverside were incredibly ropey!

Hopefully Roberta Tovey will be coming out the woodwork.

We can go for beverages afterwards since it's wank holiday weekend.

    This sounds quite brilliant.

Leaving this to the last minute does have it's drawbacks

I can either buy two tickets - or none at all.

Any takers for the other ticket if I buy both?

I've bought myself 1 ticket to see Dr Who on the big screen

It turns out that there was only one ticket available - so it's a good thing that I hadn't cemented a second person for the now non-existent second ticket

I doubt Roberta Tovey will ever appear at a Doctor Who fan event again. Not after the "obituary" incident.

I gather Roberta was the victim of a hoax which claimed that she'd died; not only that, but there was an obituary published which claimed that she had a criminal record, and that she'd had a restraining order served on her at some point.

Hope you're all enjoying them! I know me and Steve really enjoyed seeing them on the big screen, in Colour a few years back.

It was a great afternoon. Plus Ray Brooks did a Q&A after too, and we got some Dalekmania extras. A cake was made in honour of what would have been Peter Cushing's 100 birthday. However, not a crumb passed through Planet Skaro's collective lips. (Not even the ones on Si Hunt's t-shirt!)

    Morning all.

Good you see you guys there yesterday, and to see the movies as well.
It must be about 20 years since I last saw them, and they looked pretty good on the big screen

It was great fun, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed these films. I actually came away changing my perception of them - the first film, which I've never much liked, I enjoyed more than ever before, particuarly the moments of humour (intentional and unintentional). I love the bit where Dr Who needs to prove a point about pacifism so Ian gets a punch.

The second film by contrast struck me as being virtually humourless, which was really odd given they'd obviously employed Cribbens as the "funnyman" - he then played ALL his scenes deadly straight, including the ones intended to be funny! (watch, for example, the scene where the food machine overloads).

Afterwards, they had Ray Brooks on and he was really interesting. I loved his anecdotes about not being paid for Mr Benn and Wendy Richards being a cow towards him on Eastenders!

Sadly, the organisers then felt it neccessary to make us sit for an extra hour (this after two whole films) watching "treats" like clips from the film overdubbed in Italian (yawn!) and a silly Youtube-style video where someone had compiled more bits of the films we'd just watched to Adele's "Skyfall" (?). We were in the second row and it was very difficult to get away so we had to sit through it. Our friend consequently had to wait around for an hour outside for us. A shame they had to overegg the omelette as it was otherwise such a lovely afternoon.

    Si.
