"New" Monsters? (spoilers)
So you've probably by now seen the photos of The Whispermen from the Finale. Mr Moffat seems very excited over them, today commenting:
"Having brought back two of the classics, the Ice Warriors and the Cybermen, this year we wanted a brand new monster to create chills in the finale. And the thought of stylish whispering almost faceless creatures was an idea that firstly scared me and that I thought would work well in an episode that looks forward and back."
But - please stop me if I'm going mad - these monsters; white faces, no eyes, sharp teeth - are just the Trickster from SJA. Arn't they? It's not even similar. It IS the same thing.
Now IMO to bring in a race of Tricksters is a GREAT idea. But a new Monster is isn't.
Is it like that thing where you write a song then realise you've unwittingly copied it off something you heard on the radio? Will Mr Moffatt walk into a room one day soon and see Sarah Jane playing and go "Oh sh*t!"

Oh THEM! I'd forgotten about them from the trailer. On the one hand, they look very Silent Hill (When the series is over, I will be making a thread on how this series has been dipping into- if not smashing and grabbing- Silent Hill imagery) but on the other hand, as Si says, a race full of Tricksters!

Are there no new ideas these days?
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Nothing to do with the Trickster then. Let's hope they don't ever release a Doctor Who book which puts photos of the Trickster and the Whispermen side by side!
