Is he, blimey! It must be the "born first" thing then.

Hmmm. It's interesting, but not all that amazing. If they'd cast a genuine old woman to play Old Mother in the first story, I reckon she would have pipped May to the honour.

Surely if Cribbins is 79, he was only born in 1929, so May is still the earliest born by a long way.

Here's an obscure trivia fact for you all - William Emms was a school teacher at the time he wrote Galaxy Four.

That's not obscure, surely, I knew that ages ago!

Another fact about William Emms is that at a convention panel in the 80s he was very critical of the then-current show - which I always thought was a bit rich when you bear in mind that (another fact) none of the regulars was happy with his scripts for Galaxy 4.

To be fair to both Andrew and Pip, in the early 1980s whenever Galaxy Four was mentioned, it was pretty much invariably described as "the missing classic written by schoolteacher William Emms".

I haven't seen Midnight since it was broadcast and I gave up after one episode of Merlin, but isn't the son in Midnight the same guy who's now Merlin?

Though if he is I'm sure everyone already knew that...
