I thought we'd have had long enough so I could joke about going for the part!
But... OK then, *takes Starburst's word because at least they're more in the loop than I am!

7th Jun 2013, 8:21 PM #5[UPDATE]Starburst's sources have now come up with three names, apparently the front-runners in the bidding to be the new Doctor. Whether it's one of these three that has in fact been chosen to play the part, we cannot be sure. We can't really be sure that these three are in the running at all - but that's what we've been told! One thing that's guaranteed, however, is that this new "information" will get people talking!
The three names are: Domhnall Gleeson, Daniel Kaluuya, and Dominic Cooper (click each for more background).
Domhall Gleeson seems to popular in the comments and looks the part the most of those three to me as well. If it even is one of them.

Dominic Cooper is a fantastic actor. I loved Daniel Kaluuya in Psychoville but have never seen Domhnall Gleeson in anything so know very little about him. He looks nice though (and ginger!)

I just recently saw Daniel Kaluuya in Johnny English Reborn. Apparently Domhall was Bill Weasley in Harry Potter.

I've never heard of any of them altho!ugh I suspect I may have seen them all in something - how is that possible!?
EDIT: Is Dominic Cooper the one out of The Wire/The Hour or the one out of Mamma Mia? I always get those two confused.

On the other hand, the BBC site seems to suggest that nobody's been chosen yet:

Ah, thanks Si.
(Think I'd prefer the other one, though...)
EDIT: Just checked - that's Dominic West, isn't it?

Why didn't you say he played Tealeaf!
OK if it's him. Think I'd prefer Domhall over Dominic.
And the really great thing about this is, if the actors have been interviewed by the production office, then at the very least they might not be too butthurt about not getting the gig that they agree to put in some cracking guest turns for the new series?

9th Jun 2013, 10:25 AM #21When he was asked about rumours linking him with the Doctor Who role in April, he admitted that he had never watched the programme. “I think I’m being used as a decoy on that front,” he said. “It’s the first I’ve heard.”Pity. I've no idea if it will be Rory Kinnear, but they could certainly do a lot worse.

Doubt it'll be Domhnall Gleeson (Wee fact: He's Brendan Gleeson's son ). I've seen him in a few films. He's playing the lead in the upcoming Richard Curtis movie "About Time" opposite Rachel McAdams.
So while he'd have some time traveling experience under his belt, he seems more devoted to film acting than television.

I've seen some bookies have got odds on Andrew Scott! That would be awesome! Domhnall Gleeson is my favourite possibility so far, though.
A non-British Doctor though... hmm...
