Tennant wins Doctor Who poll
Recently, YouGov published a poll on Doctor Who, asking the UK nation who their favourite, least favourite and who the next Doctor should be (you can read the full results here).
FYI; no-one under the age of 18 took part in this vote, and it was voted on by the general public - just because we're the sort of people who get upset at that sort of thing
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DOCTOR WHO?
David Tennant 43%
Tom Baker 16%
Matt Smith 14%
Christopher Eccleston 8%
Jon Pertwee 6%
Patrick Troughton 3%
William Hartnell 2%
Peter Davison 2%
Sylvester McCoy 2%
Colin Baker 1%
Paul McGann 0%
(2% voted "Doctor Who?" )
WHO IS YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE DOCTOR WHO?
Sylvester McCoy 29%
Colin Baker 11%
Paul McGann 9%
Christopher Eccleston 7%
Peter Davison 5%
Matt Smith 5%
Patrick Troughton 3%
Tom Baker 3%
William Hartnell 2%
Jon Pertwee 2%
David Tennant 1%
(24% voted "Doctor Who?" )

I haven't got a least favourite. But Colin was definitely the one who was worst treated.
Pollsters, eh?

It's like a Family Fortunes special episode.

Well - these people will probably never see any McCoy episodes any more. Asking for 'Least Favourite Doctor' was a bit mean, but then the Government has always had it in for the 6th and 7th Doctors.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

You're often better off not knowing what the general public at large thinks about anything. If you asked them, most of them would no doubt want David Tennant back as the next Doctor.
Anyway, I suppose, if nothing else, it makes a change for it not to be Colin being knocked around.
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

People now like Colin for his stint on Celebrity In the Jungle Get My Career Out Of Here. Plus he was vaguely and unfairly associated with someone who may have had underage sex at some point. All serves to raise your profile.

Only for about 5 minute, and then he's barely recognisable

2% said that Billy was their most favourite; 2% said he was their least favourite. Similarly, 3% said both their most and least favourite Doctor. Well apart from saying the not-we may have trouble picking them out of an identity parade, there's some odd symmetry going on here.

Any poll involving the general public, I always remember these are the same mass of people for whom
- a disturbingly high % don't know the capital of France
- a worrying number think TOWIE is great television
- a majority thought having a Tory-Lib government was a good idea
- speeding or parking illegally shouldn't be treated as crimes
- wouldn't know good Doctor Who if it jumped up and bit them.
Perhaps we shuold be more worried that apparently only 31% were actually interested in DW....(and 1% didn't know if they were interested or not )Bazinga !

Actually Phil, I wasn't so much thinking about the voting as the general mood of the population when the coalition formed - the idea that the Lib Dems would somehow make a Tory government more socially responsible ( ) and moderate their more right wing aspects ( ), and that we'd seen the end of tit-for-tat party politics ( )
After all, we'd got rid of those terrible Labour people with their out of control defecit and over the top public borrowing ......Bazinga !

And therein lies the crux of politics. Governments don't get voted in. We just stop supporting the incumbent government and they get voted out based on a 'can't be worse than this lot' gut feeling.

Or as the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band elequently put it, no matter who you vote for, the Government always gets in.
