I agree. Although I liked the Shelley Long era, Kirstie Alley's Rebecca Howe was just such a different character from Shelley Long's Diane that it totally changed the dynamic of the show, and breathed new life into all the other characters as well. That single casting change probably extended the lifespan of the series by several years, and arguably worked better because even in the final season, it never felt as stale as things did in Long's final season.

Watched "Twelve Angry Men" today. Hancock at its best, with Hancock playing the Jury Foreman with Sid by his side, who is determined to string the process out as long as possible so that he gets paid his daily rate. Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain??

Twelve Angry Men is probably my favourite of the TV ones, even above The Blood Donor. Twelve Angry Men or The Bowmans. I love the speech bit (of course) in Twelve... but also just the whole idea of it - Tony & Sid work so well together, it's just inspired. "The quality of mercy..."

They really were a class double act. Such a shame that Hancock jettisoned that partnership. This morning was "The Train Journey" set mostly onboard one first class train carriage with 6 people including Tony & Sid. There was one audience member with a particularly noisy laugh. It was very off-putting. Especially to Hancock! Nice to see stock 1959 footage of the exterior of King's Cross station though!

Fancying a bit of Star Trek, movie style, I popped the BD of Insurrection in this afternoon and had forgotten how much I enjoy this one. Not one for all that odd and even numbered nonsense.

HMS Pinafore, Riker using "the joystick", and a meaty role for Picard, it's a great film. And it looks stunning in HD.

After the boxed set lying dormant for years, finally delved into some Laurel & Hardy. Started with the short "County Hospital" where Stan visits Ollie in hospital, bringing him some hard-boiled eggs and nuts. There's a lot of back projection of car scenes which looks incredibly dated now of course, but L&H still managed to make it funny. A real tonic for the Monday blues!

You can't go wrong with a bit of Laurel & Hardy! I've got a lot of their stuff on DVD as well, but like you it's lay for years unwatched I think I'll have to rectify that soon...Laughing Gravy was always a favourite of mine

I started onto Netflix's Daredevil at the weekend, the latest Marvel superhero to make it to the screen. The world's only blind superhero. Unlike all the others seen so far (like Captain America, Iron Man, Avengers, Agent Carter, SHIELD etc) which have tended to be rather lightweight but generally very enjoyable fare, this has a much darker tone, graphically violent and more brutal than any of the others. The difference is that the fights feel realistic, rather than choreographed fantasy battles. Daredevil isn't a superhero who needs much in the way of effects to show off his powers...all you need is the sound of a beating heart to emphasise his enhanced hearing; a line such as "there are other ways to see" coupled with the scene where he impeccably times when to drop a fire extinguisher down a stairwell to stop a villain from escaping to emphasise his radar sense. And no costume yet either, 3 episodes in, apart from the black outfit worn to blend in with the night. All in all, possibly the most enjoyable Marvel series yet which is showing so much promise for future episodes. The cast is great as well

I raced through all four leaked episodes of Game of Thrones S5 last night, I won't spoil anything but I enjoyed each and every one of them, the only downside is that due to a lack of control I have to wait a month until a new episode now...

The Twilight Zone S2 (BD) - Started off slower than S1, but is picking up
The Prisoner (Network BD) - Never get bored of this
Space 1999 (BD) - Not exactly struggling through these, but my pace has slowed
Big Train S1 (DVD)
The Avengers S3 (DVD) - The quality of most of these are really high, particularly loved 'Dressed To Kill' written by Brian Clemens
Star Trek TNG S2 (BD) - Some stinkers at the start (Elementary as an exception), but I loved 'Loud As A Whisper' which I couldn't remember much about.

Two new shows coming to PVTV tonight courtesy of Network DVD in The Strange World Of Gurney Slade and The Corridor People, which both get glowing reviews over at Roobarbs...
