It is rather the TV equivalent of the Times Crossword...

I'm running through the rather superb Deadwood again, having done the first 8 episodes so far. Only seen seasons 1 & 2 before, so looking forward to a fresh 3rd and final series. Got a bit of a crush on Molly Parker at the moment...

I've been watching Doctor Who (of course) and Dallas (of course!) but also ITV's Cilla, last part tonight; and I see we've got a new series of Buzzcocks starting, hurrah!

I did mean to catch Cilla, as I think Sheridan Smith is an excellent actress, is it any good?

I've really enjoyed it so far - and Sheridan Smith is very good indeed in it. Per the end credits, she's doing the singing herself (ie, not miming to recordings of the real Cilla) and is very impressive.

Yay for Bernard Cribbins He was in the TOTU episode "The Memory Man" playing a professional thief who forgot the locker combination which contained his ill-gotten gains.

I can't remember the ending though.....

This morning's TOTU Treat was "A Sad Loss" with Hayley Mills, Phyllida Law and the wonderful Lally Bowers

Hayley's performance was a bit flat, but then again she had some stiff competition with Law & Bowers! Poor old Lally, being dragged off in her swimsuit in the middle of the night. I bet she had stern words with her Agent after that!

Suffering from lally bowers sounds painful.

And as for dragging women in swimsuits away, don't let Mark Strickson give tim any more ideas...

A musical feast - the Genesis doc, then TOTP with Genesis, and now Sounds of the 80s (where a lot of the dancing seems to be highly ironic )

Last night was all about the #Genesis . Though the much hyped 'Reunion' didn't seem to yield much in the way of interviews. We missed the first half though so maybe there was more there.

This morning's TOTU was an expensive one - all on film, and David Cassidy playing twins! Presumably he only got paid once though....

This weekend we watched two films. Jaws, which was magnificent; and Casino Royale (1967) which wasn't. Both films apparently had troubled productions, yet Jaws goes to show what you can do with a strong talent and a lot of effort in the editing. Given that Casino Royale had 6 directors and that Peter Sellers walked out before finishing the film, you can hardly blame them for it being an incomprehensible mess. Still has a few good laughs though.

This morning's TOTU (all on video) had Geoffrey Bayldon playing a grumpy old sod. He's very good at doing that! There was also an actress with the rather fab name of Unity Grimwood!

Geoffrey Bayldon was in Casino Royale too! He played a Q-type character. There were some other Doctor Who actors I'm sure, but the only one that springs to mind is Ronnie Corbett.

I watched the first episode of Gracepoint tonight, and it's a bit average. Most of it is all but identical to Broadchurch, but it's just missing something, the tone isn't as dark, and the performances are fairly mixed. I doubt I'll bother with the rest of it, though Mette plans to watch it so if she likes it I might dip in again. But we'll see...

He is, and it's not that bad. It's quite a slight accent, and so thankfully not that distracting and it doesn't seem out of place with the rest of the cast.

The Walking Dead season 5 and The Strain.
I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

I started on the first season of Arrow the other night as part of a double-bill with Gotham...like Jon, I was quite impressed by Gotham and will keep watching, but have to say that I was surprised to find that Arrow was much more enjoyable and, unlike Gotham, I'm totally gripped after the pilot episode. Arrow has unexpectedly become my new must-watch series, while I'm simply hoping that Gotham will become so. It's well-made and glossy, with a good and well-acted story but so far it simply lacks Arrow's sparkle.

Also on my current viewing list...Doctor Who of course (though I'm still a week behind everyone else!), the second season of The Following, Game Of Thrones S2, with The Strain, Penny Dreadful and Under The Dome all next up in the queue!

I watched that Genesis documentary as well...shame that Steve Hackett got sidelined so much, he hardly got a mention while they concentrated so much on the other 4 of them. Shame too that Ray Wilson never even got a mention...that era maybe didn't last long or have the best of reviews but it was as legitimate an era of Genesis as any other...even just a clip of Congo to acknowledge it's exixtence would have sufficed

I really need to get in to Arrow, I dismissed it originally due to it being a CW show, the majority of which are pretty by the numbers, but I've heard so many good things about it that I'm going to obtain it soon now.

On the CW / Superhero front, I saw the first episode of The Flash recently, which is, well, very Smallville-esque really. It's fun enough, but fairly flimsy, and I laughed out loud at the odd bit of clunky dialogue. Still, I'll probably stick with it for a few episodes yet as I like the character in the comics a lot.

I'm also watching The Walking Dead (S5), and still not sure why. I mean it's okay at times, and enjoyable gory, but I'm still struggling with the fact that there's not many characters I actually like. Carol and Daryl are okay and everything, and Michonne shows promise, but otherwise I don't care who lives and dies, unlike in the comics.

And also on the zombie front, I've seen the first three Z Nation episodes, a new syfy post zombie apocalypse series. Dialogue wise it's a bit naff at times, and again there's not many that great characters, but it does have a sense of humour about itself (unlike The Walking Dead, ever), and there's some cute ideas (like Amish zombies, for instance) and it's moving at a swift place, so I'd cautiously recommend it to fans of horror shows.

Oh yeah, and American Horror Story's back. And ludicrous. At one point Jessica Lange sings Life On Mars in a french accent despite the fact that it's 1952. But as ridiculous as that sounds, like the rest of the show, it is very enjoyable. I just hope it has a proper storyline this year, unlike the very dodgy S3.

I was the same with Arrow, that's why I waited so long to watch it but so many peole were recommending it that I just had to give it a chance! As for The Flash, I'm not sure whether I'll wait till I've seen his appearance in Arrow or not...this new series has a lot to live up to, if it's even going to equal the early 90s series.
