    Default Mel Smith

The BBC news are reporting that Mel Smith has died, at the age of 60. How sad, and oddly enough I was watching some old Not The Nine O'Clock News just yesterday. Only a few years ago my Mum 'revealed' that she used to really quite like Smith & Jones, which surprised me because I always thought she wasn't that bothered about them - apparently she tried not to laugh at anything rude, presumably in case it warped my or my brother's fragile little minds!!

Not The Nine O'Clock News was a show I used to love watching upstairs before school the next day.
I'll be honest, I didn't get the jokes all the time. But I also loved Alas Smith And Jones.
Sad to hear he's dead. And he put his money where his mouth was and formed Talkback production company, that went on to produce the next wave of comedy programmes.

Blimey. Thats unexpected news. I don't really remember NTNOCN, but I always liked Alas Smith and Jones. RIP.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

RIP... although we'll see him again at Christmas on the music channels for his annual 'Rocking Around The Christmas Tree' with Kim Wilde.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

And maybe also as the voice of Father Christmas in the animated short of the same name and the introduction to The Snowman.

Very sad news. I'm a fan of his work & I used to have an audio tape of Smith & Jones...but I wore it out with the constant listening.

R.I.P Mel. You were the funniest Mel I ever knew.
