Get an Echo pedal. Try some out in the shop. You can adjust the delay and get some good effects. Fuzztone or Fuzz if you want to make distorted metal stuff.
Flanger and Chorus pedals sound futuristic.
But you might want to master the Wah Wah pedal. I had one (Forgot it's make) but was cack footed as well as handed. But then it's all about practice.
I think a box that has more than one pedal on the board, maybe more expensive, but it saves you having to connect different effects pedals and make a mess of leads.
If that sounds more than what you were thinking of, I'd go for either a Wah Wah or an Echo.

I only wish I was clued up on the brand names of them, I could have been more help!

This is a tune I found in a 2001 notebook and the name of it was called "Britanny Classical". I play this and another tune at the back of the book that's untitled.

This was the first time I've been able to sit down and play since starting that job at a call centre. Made sure the strings were in tune with each other and just went for it!
Thank you if you play the entire 11m 43s in one sitting! And there are good bits in there.
I was just improvising. But without knowing scales etc!

I had some time off work today. So I thought without any prior practice or warm up, play as much as I knew from "The Stars and Stripes" on my trusty acoustic bass.
Which didn't turn out to be that much, so I just jammed on a blues riff as well.
Apologies in advance to our American PS people!
There will be times where you shriek "YOU JUST PLAYED THE ****ING NOTE RIGHT THERE!!" a lot when listening to it.
The best thing is it could have been a lot more boring than it could be.
Although about a couple of minutes in, there is a sequence where I keep playing the fret incorrect and get no note.
I think that bit might test your patience a bit!
And as I've set the bar low, can any guitarists on here play "The Stars and Stripes" on guitar?

I've got a longer video (34:56!) but it's a lot easier to get into as I used the numbers from international dialling codes to plot riffs around. (For the numbers like 7,8 and 9, I just played the four frets above the bottom string I was using)

I used my fretboard/typewriter chart I created to turn
"PICTURE DISC ASMODEUS RATLEDGE" into fret positions and spent the afternoon in play, with only the rattling of the Dictaphone banging against the back of the guitar until it slipped off where I was sitting, but still recording.
Volume turned up not to full, but enough to distort slightly.

Take 4 is my attempt to get in three minutes (I went over) what I was doing, so here's your first clip.

Yes it's 19 minutes.
But it could of been longer if the filming didn't switch off!

People used to say to me they couldn't hear what I was doing in my Stygosi YouTube videos.
Think the opposite part of the problem is more on this ELECTRIC "Greatest Could Of Been Hits If Applied Yourself A Lot More Than You Actually Did".

Look at that! I managed to escape and shout speak at a small audience last night with my Bass!
And later that night made a new friend who mentioned a jam session over two days next week.
Can't afford to probably, but I may as well!
So this could one day be performed by a band. And I hope to be honest they do proper singing so I can practice on playing.

I'm not a great fan of poetry but that was interesting with a bass line.

Also that really is a small amp. Pocket sized almost. When you said a small amp I was thinking more along the lines of something 12 to 14 inches square, not 5!

Those halcyon days if 2017 eh?
Didn't touch my bass guitar all through the first lockdown. Been playing it in intervals last few days.
With government retrain messages, I seem more compelled to play my music!

Having started this thread way WAAAAYYYYY in the past (I'd forgotten it was so long ago) I am back with an update. I have struggled with learning guitar for so long it almost feels like a waste of time. I found Fenderplay guitar lessons online during the 1st lockdown & this had a positive effect on my playing but I was still not progressing.

So on the 21st April 2022 I turned to the darkside...I joined Ant & Aaron with a bass! And with the help of Fenderplay online I'm having fun. Spent £200 on a bass & have been having fun since. Playing along to Sheena is a Punk Rocker by The Ramones being the lastest play along. It's a simplified version but recognisable.

My long fingers are now a bonus, comfortably spanning the 1st 4 frets where alot of people have to micro shift. My little finger is getting quite a workout, as are my forearms. 2 finger playing takes some getting used to, but it's coming along. I may have been a Bass player all this time & never knew it!

Welcome to the Bass! How light is yours? Currently playing an LA Bass and I wish I discovered them sooner. Very light, very comfortable. Used to have planks of wood that felt like I was carrying an entire forest around my neck!

My bass is an AriaProII. It's about the same weight as my pacifica & lighter than my Epi Dot. But I do find I have to play with a strap all the time. I just can't get it comfortable without.
