    Here's a more recent one, from 2010, but it's a good one:

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Me too - such a shame with what they replaced them with in the same episode!

Was yesterday's Tom pic used on the BBC record of the Howell theme?

It's form the same photo shoot I suspect, but not the same picture. In fact I've never seen the theme single photo used anywhere else.

Thanks Si - they're both great photos, and I love the way he doffs his hat on the record one!

It's a good photo isn't it? I was hoping that more from this photoshoot would be available on the DVDs (I do love the photo galleries!) but nothing has turned up alas.

They really are the ultimate Tom Baker photos - either these or the one for the titles.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

    One for Jonno today:

The Chris Achilleos cover to The Amazing World of Doctor Who given away free with Typhoo tea in 1976.

Quite stylish, but it does look like the Doctor and Sarah have just returned from a hard day's coal mining.

As it was largely a reprint of a World Distributors annual, that is entirely possible!

Lovely - thanks ever so much, Si! I did own this and well remember the Typhoo Tea promotion (along with the Weetabix board games around the same time). I no longer have either sadly - I think they both went when we emigrated in 1977 and I had to give away most of my belongings!

Now, one thing that has just struck me - every character/object on that cover has reappeared in modern Who (as of the next episode!) bar the 4th Doctor - let's hope that gets rectified...

The one to the left of Creature is almost impossible to make out!

And you've missed one off your list that's in plain view!

Could be though the logo colour looks unusual. Could it be something like The Curse of Peladon reprint (Bill Donohoe?) which may have been hardback only, or have I made that up?

Somehow, while collecting stuff for this thread I came across a rather rare clean version of the photo, so here it is:

Today we have a lovely behind the scenes picture from the early days of the show. Look Who's in the make up chair!
