Default Ultimate Doctor Who: Season 6

It's the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe all the way to a heartbreaking end today as we look back at season 6.

It's a funny old season, beset by script crisis after script crisis, and yet we ned up with a series of adventures far more varied than any we've had since season 3.

But which one is your favourite?

The Invasion. The War Games is great too, everything else is good, except for The Dominators, which is fun but dumb, and The Space Pirates, which consists of six episodes of the regulars being locked in various rooms.

Which, frankly, I could see much more enjoyably in the movie Cube.

    Oooh, coconut macaroons!

Well, this is the best represented Patrick Troughton season (it could be the least soon if all these missing episode finds prove true).

For me it has to be The War Games. It's an enjoyable 10-part epic of an adventure where we're formally introduced to the Time Lords and is a great way to end both the Sixties and the Second Doctor's era.

I'm going to go for "favourite" rather than necessarily "best" and have voted for Seeds of Death - obviously the nostalgia of the VHS which meant I became more familiar with it than its stablemates is one factor. It may drag a bit early on but once the regulars get to the Moon it's fun all the way!

I'm going for the poor unloved The Krotons, because I love it. If nothing else, the interplay between the regulars is quite, quite fantastic, even if the monsters themselves aren't. The whole learning hall sequence with Zoe and the Doctor is splendid and quite frequently quoted in our hosue (even with Steve away!)

    @ Dino!

Actually, as a glasses wearer myself, I shouldn't like The War Games as it makes out that all glasses wearers are bad guys!

A couple of good stories here, but Seeds Of Death is the best on a watchable in one sitting basis.

From this season I've always been fondest of Seeds of Death.
    Definitely Troughton comfort viewing.

It was a bit of a toss up between Seeds of Death, Mind Robber and Invasion but I decided to go with War Games.

Some excellent stories here, despite its long-standing poor reputation, but The Invasion is a phenomenal story.

Er... can I have that again, please?

I know what you guys mean about Seeds of Death. Absolutely delightful to watch, gets a high score on the Harry Towb-ometer, it's by far and away the best Ice Warrior story outside of fan audio fiction , plus there's a foam machine.

    However...

I've been advised to go for The War Games.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I love season 6, maybe because it's almost all there - even The Dominators is popular with me, so I've found this a tough choice. But, mainly because there's so much of it, I'm going for The War Games - a perfect end to the season, to Troughton, to the 60s, and (potentially) the whole show. Exciting, funny, scary, surprising, jaw-dropping and rather touching, The War Games has the lot!!

The Mind Robber - a really inventive story, even if it did get a bit silly in places.

The Mind Robber, The Invasion, Seeds of Death & The War Games all vying for the top spot with me but it just has to be The Invasion just in front of The War Games.

It's close between The War Games and The Invasion, but Invasion gets the nod from me.
