So that's how John Hurt can be the same person & yet not the Doctor & not a regeneration. He's the 8th Doctor+, a forced regeneration that didn't come from the Doctor's own regeneration cycle. That, I should think, will answer the question of how to continue the show after Doctor 13 comes to grief.

I wonder could they do an animated series with McGann's Doctor

I've just seen it and wow, I mean WOW! I had no idea and it was such a welcome surprise.

Thanks for changing the thread title, I managed to see this without any spoilers

It was great, wasn't it...the only problem was that it just wasn't long enough! It makes me wish for an entire McGann season!

I have a vision of Paul getting a call from his agent: "Hi Paul, it's taken me 17 years, but they've finally agreed to let you come back WITHOUT the wig..."

And thank the lord it's a proper Doctor outfit, not that silly mature student look they were pushing a year or so ago.

I've got to say, Name, Night, and just the trailers for Day are the best Who I've ever seen. Without question. I was agasp. Stunned. And very, very happy.

Along with Rowan Atkinson, Joanna Lumley & Hugh Grant....

I knew I'd be in a small minority (but not this small), but that was terrible. I wish I hadn't watched it, as it's taken away all the excitement I had for the 50th.

Night of the Doctor made my year...unexpected, delightful, and I genuinely punched the air when McGann appeared. If Day can be half as awesome, I'll be happy!

I believe it will be on the Day of the Doctor DVD/ BluRay sets.

Ah, interesting! Pretty much all of fandom has been awed by this mini-adventure, but there's always going to be someone who hates it.

So what annoyed you? The fanservice? The cheap-ish look? The humour?

The fact it made McGann canon probably.

But... if the audios are canon then Sisterhood of the Flame and Vengeance of Morbus are canon, so the Sisterhood have already met the 8th Doctor (and not on Karn.....)

It didn't have the desired impact on me, as I'd happened to look at Digital Spy in the afternoon and they'd plastered McGann's name and photo all over their main headline! Still, it was very well made and great to see McGann on screen again. I noticed the main speaking Sister was called Ohila - almost Ohica!

Like Timecrash it just frustrates me that this wasn't a full episode. It's a waste of a great idea. I'd have rather had this than Rings of Arkten, Nightmare in Silver or Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.

Since when hasn't McGann been canon? He's always been canon. He's been shown often enough that even Baysan Tulu had to stop complaining.

Steve (Perry) has never been keen to accept it, IIRC.
