Ultimate Doctor Who: Season 14
The Hinchcliffe era is in full swing, and not even the departure of Sarah Jane Smith can dent its popularity, as she's replaced by Leela of the Sevateem.
There are some magnificent stories this year, but which is your favourite?
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Robots of Death for me, with Talons close behind and Deadly Assassin taking the bronze.

The Masque at least looks good. The Hand has Sarah Jane leaving. The Deadly has Time Lord. The Face has Leela. The Robots has the first BBC Video I ever bought. The Talons has the greatest historical setting that isn't an historical story.
I'll be back later as well!

It's a more consistent season than last, getting better as it goes along... and reaching its peak in the gloriously voteworthy Talons of Weng-Chiang. I'm voting for Jago & Liftefoot & Casey & Mr Chang & the horrendous hyperbole of Grubb Street & Magnus Greel & his pig-faced peking homunculus & the zygma experiment & even the Muffin Man.

Talons is my favourite story so naturally gets my vote. Robots of Death is an exceptionally good story though.

Well I'm going to vote for poor, unloved Masque of Mandragora, which I have a real soft spot for. I don't think anyone likes it as much as I do!
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

The Robots of Death, although I love every story this season.
Oooh, coconut macaroons!

That's how good this season is - we get probably the best story ever (Robots of Death) and then it is knocked back into the number two slot by the very next story. Extraordinary!

Hmm, I've just voted for Robots of Death and leveled the score!

Talons with Robots are small way behind.
The rest are all a bit middling to blah.

OK, today I've gone for (finally) Robots a hair in front of Talons...but my word it's a close run thing*.
On any other day it could be the other way round.
*Just put the discrepancy down to the rat.

OK, I may have just chickened out of this one - I just cannot decide between the equally phenomenal Robots or Talons, and since every story here is great (apart from perhaps The Face Of Evil, which I've never really got on with) I'm going to go with The Hand of Fear. It's a simple, but compelling story with some great ideas, and in Watson's phone call to his family, and of course Sarah's departure, it has two my favourite moments in all of Who.
Now, is anyone going to speak up for The Deadly Assassin?

The season ends with my favourite, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, a great Victorian tale, very Sherlock Holmes-esque. One of Robert Holmes' best scripts.

Talons, just barely, over Robots. This season starts well and sags a bit with the middle two stories. The season ends with two all-time classics, though.
