Default Ultimate Doctor Who: Season 16

Graham Williams had wanted to do a series of linked stories for his first season. Time pressures didn't allow it, but he was able to see it through for his second year.

So the Doctor was given a new companion, Romanadvoratrelunder, and sent off into Time and Space to search for the 6 segments of the Key to Time by The White Guardian. Doubles, stones coming to life, Pirate Captains and con men await him on his quest.

But which one is your favourite?

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

The Androids of Tara, AKA Doctor Who and the Princess Bride.

    Poor Lamia.

My vote is for The Armageddon Factor. I didn't really see it at the time (Or at least, I was too young to remember) but it did make my Christmas when it was shown on UK Gold.

If The Stones of Blood was a two-parter, it would have won.

So it's The Ribos Operation for me!
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

The Key to Time is one of my favourite seasons and the one which I'm going for is The Stones of Blood, a dark, atmospheric tale harkening back to the Philip Hinchcliffe era. Also features some great performances by Beatrix Lehmann and Susan Engel.

Any of the first four stories would be a worthy winner... the last two, maybe not so much. Ribos is a gloriously 'small-scale' tale, Pirates is extraordinarily mad, Stones is a nicely dark little tale... and Androids is the one I'm voting for, because it's just what I love about Doctor Who, it's a romp, it's warm, it's witty, it's got a cracking good plot, and it has one of my favourite cliffhangers (part two). Plus it has Cyril Shaps, Peter Jeffrey, and a double 9maybe triple?) dose of Mary Tamm!!

Quite a difficult decision. I like Ribos Operation, Stones of Blood and Androids of Tara quite a lot, and there's very little in it between the three of them. I'm picking Ribos Operation on the basis of the great supporting performance from Iain Cuthbertson.

Pirate Planet for me - it's just so gloriously bonkers!! With Stones coming a close second!

Ribos gets my vote - a cracking script from Robert Holmes, some wonderful characters, a rich, beautifully-realised setting and a memorable debut from Mary Tamm's Romana. It's very underrated this one, but I think it's a little classic.

Stones for me too - the only story in this season I really, really like! Pirate Planet was the only story I saw in the 70s - and that was the repeat in summer 79. All the other stories I would have read the Target before seeing the stories! Therefore no nostalgia factor here for me and it's my least favourite Tom season.
