Yeah, those scenes were quite no holds barred weren't they.
And Poor Franky, She was a good sort really! It's funny how you get into the characters isn't it. I love Bea. On those rare moments of 'weakness' when she gets upset, i feel really sad for her.
I won't spoil anything, but Doreen blaming Karen is the start of her going off the rails for a while.......

I guessed that! I think Episode 20 is the first one we've had without Bea in it. The "Vera is lonely" storyline just seems to have been dropped! And God, Mr Impressive-Voiced Lawyer to Everyone In The Prison, please, please, please get wretched Lynn Warner released!!

Enjoyable Episode 23 last night, with a lovely scene with Bea and her dead daughter. Love the stuff with the woman who ran over the rapist, hope she sticks around. And Barbara Davidson's getting everything she deserves!

Agreed. I knew in advance she was something of an icon to Prisoner fans, but after seeing her first episode I remember thinking "Really? But she's just repellant!". But she's softened definately.
No time for an episode last night, what with the soaps bonanza, Big Brother, and Episode 4 of "Frontier in Space" to do!

There was a review of Frontier In Space when the video came out, possibly in TV Zone, which compared the middle bit of that story to Prisoner Cell Block H!

Episode 24 and Karen Travers trial. That lawyer guy is like the lawyer from "The Simpsons". When he announced that Karen had a black eye, and then his opponent confirmed that they had no proof who caused it, he sighed like he'd really hoped he wouldn't think of pointing that out. "The defence council. I'm so sick of that guy!" as Lional Hutz (?) would say.
And I can't believe he called Greg the Doctor as a witness hoping that no-one would unearth the fact that he'd had a relationship with the woman in the dock! There was just a chance that would come up.
We think Travers will be back in Wentworth before too long!
All that and Jean "well this looks like a lovely open farm, of course you can look after one of our prisoners!" Vernon and her horrible cardigans as well.

Erica Davidson is great! We'll just leave her in that cell with the petrol and matches! She'll come out when she's hungry, believe you me!

Episode 26. Where's Kate the Rapist Crusher gone? She's just vanished!
However, a new woman has arrived in one of the weirdest storylines so far - she's the wife of someone whose left his kids to have a gay fling with a pop star! It's not the most obvious storyline. The strange Susan Rice has so far looked very moody like a wounded moose beneath big hair, and apparently answers questions either with silence or with a sensible answer, at random.
Meanwhile Vera has turned into Nice Sweet Vera again and is having a candlelight dinner with a hideous moustached man. And wretched Lynn Warner has run away from her work assignment, the stupid bitch. Good job she has Jean Vernon and her horrible cardigans to tell her not to do it ever again.
All this and the prospect of a four-some between Jean, Steve, Greg and Meg. Who's going on top?

Kate does just vanish, and theres no mention of her for about 4 episodes until a casual reference to her being transferred. Perhaps the writers got bored of her or the actress proved unreliable!
Have you met the immeasurably fantastic Noeline "quit pervin' at me tits!" Burke yet?Last edited by Matthew T; 24th Jan 2007 at 4:24 AM.

No, not yet.
And if Kate has dissapeared... whaaaaaat? All that build-up and that's it?! Don't think we haven't noticed that Toadie's Mum from "Neighbours" has just vanished too. Has she escaped and we haven't noticed?
We watched Episode 27 last night but we were very tired and almost fell asleep. As new inmates go, the Mad Woman with the gay husband is no match for the Deadly Housewife or Louise Pajo.

Toadie's mum is back very soon.

I always go on about this, but it seems obvious to me in soaps that they "trial" new characters, because usually when someone new arrives they appear for a few weeks, dissapear again for a few months, and then suddenly reappear as regulars - witness Bill Webster or the Chap from Dinnerladies in Corrie lately - or simply don't come back (remember Toadie's fat girlfriend in Neighbours) presumably when the production team decide they arn't worth keeping.
Of course, "Prisoner" can't easily do that, as it's not like Wentworth inmates can pop off and visit relatives once incarcerated. So presumably, we're supposed to think they are "doing a Dawn Acton" and staying quietly in a room for months on end listening to music or something...

They can do it easily though - someone could be transferred only to be brought back a month or so later.
Prisoner is unique among soaps I think in that it has many recurring characters that come and do short stints every few months, with only a very few that stay long term. Uusually they're comedy characters like Helen Smart (Caroline Gilmour / Lou's ex-wife in Neighbours) or baddies like Marie Winter who will re-appear to provide a sudden cliffhanger.

The Anne Yates v Bea Smith period is about to hit Si's screen.
It's all good stuff - Especially Ep. 29!

The Queen Bea has been stung!
In other news, it's looks like the dvd releases are back on track. Although volumes 5 & 6 aren't out until March 16th; volumes 7 & 8 are now up for pre-order with a release date of April 23rd. That'll take us right up to ep 128.
You've got about 7 or 8 weeks to catch up, Si.

We've almost finished Volume 2 so we have about 34 episodes to do. It could happen!

Mum is back! Every time we think she's gone. The stupid woman is violating her parole, so do we think she'll be back inside before too long? The cliffhanger was a bit duff too - someone new is in trouble! Why should we care?

It's funny how inmates we've never seen before just pop up and take prominence - there's a new battle for Top Dog going on, and a particuarly nasty incident in the showers. The storyline with the glamorous woman who stole 250k for charity is a bit misguided - she's not quite nice enough, and we're struggling to care about her. And do we spy a "plague" storyline in the prison? Everyone's feeling a bit faint. It's going through a so-so patch, though Bea Smith's escape is helping perk things up.

Ah, so you've finally met the lovely Noeline?
I think Bea's escape is perhaps the best storyline going around this time, & there's more good stuff to come, there. I can't remember exactly what's happening at this point with Vera & her crook boyfriend, so i'd better not mention anything in case you haven't got there yet.

The amusing named George Lucas has just got Vera to hand him into the police. Basically he's a drug dealer with a heart of gold, though it's hard to see that this is going anywhere interesting, what with Vera moping around in her vile red nightie and occasionally getting tongued by the bearded love God.
