It's a well-directed little ghost story with plenty of psychedelic moments. In particular the jump cuts as the camera pans round the house at the end were extremely effective. But it was Peter Barkworth's line about "how you should treat your wife" that I found most disturbing.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I really liked The Machine Stops. That was very good indeed.
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Deathday (adapted by) Brian Hayles was pretty damned awful. A titillating piece of horror with a depressingly predictable twist. Although the first 20 minutes seemed like the main character alternately faffing about and murdering his wife. Very poor indeed! Another Series 4 stinker.
Meanwhile, Little Black Bag from Series 3 was much better. 30 minutes of material exists from this episode. All of it is very intriguing, but I get the sense that we miss out all the best bits! The synopsis in my OOU book tells me something ghastly happens right at the end - just after the clip cuts out.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
