The only household in Britain to sit down to the Key To Time and jump straight to "The Power of Kroll"...

But Swampies and big squids was last week. We've been watching "The Armageddon Factor" and it's a bit of a treat. NO! WAIT!

I'm really enjoying it. It feels suitably epic and end-of-seasony. It's let down only by a bit of ropey acting (Shapp, Merak) and sloppy design - the Mute's could have been ultra-scary if they were graceful but they are played by extras who lumber around in rubbish half-masks. It's also a shame that Zeos and Atrios look exactly the same, making it feel like one big runaround when the action shifts between them. The Shadow Ship is essentially the same (but with more rocks).

With a little more care, this could have been great. As it is, it's certainly epic. It maybe needs a couple of special guests stars - John Woodvine is very powerful but he's trapped in a time loop for half the story.

Episode 1 of Armageddon Factor is very good. There's a great doomy atmosphere throughout and it feels like a planet on the edge of destruction.

Black Orchid. Still a lovely bittersweet story.

Arc of Infinity Pt I - I rather enjoyed it. Although Omega's voice is a bit too refined and weedy in this story

I adore Arc of Infinity. Every second of it.

As well as the New Series (obviously) I've been rewatching Trial of a Time Lord - I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I can't help but love it. Peri's exit is still an extraordinary moment, and I'm very partial to the Vervoid story. I'm up to episode 9, with its marvellous 'all hell breaks loose' cliffhanger, good stuff.

And last night I just had to dip into The Underwater Menace and watch part 2!

I'm rather partial to Arc myself. (Draw your own conclusions...) That said, I've been enjoying The Mutants recently. Mind you I've found it better this time to watch it a couple of episodes at a time, rather than all at once.

'Face the Raven' sounds too much like an advertising slogan for Skittles for comfort.

Or the raven who, unlike Quoth from Discworld and Nevermore from (I think) the Agaton Sax books, couldn't quite wring any decent names out of Edgar Allen Poe.

That was my thinking. Also possibly Asylum.

It depends (IMHO). If the friend likes dark & dramatic, I think Tim's nailed it - if they're looking for something a bit lighter, I'd suggest Destiny of the Daleks.

Or if they want a longer story, Genesis?

It's not really a Dalek story though is it...? Ooh controversial!

We went for Asylum of the Daleks in the end. She quite enjoyed it.

I don't have Genesis or Destiny.
