    Default Tiswas Reunited

    Found this news at Roobarbs:

Compost Corner, Phantom Flan Flinger, Flan Your Folks, the Cage...ITV1 Brings You Tiswas Reunited

For one night only, ITV1 brings you Tiswas Reunited, a one-off special reuniting the stars of the iconic groundbreaking childrens show Tiswas. With a wealth of clips and reminiscences from the many stars who appeared on the series, the team will recreate the chaos and mayhem of those heady days of the show that broke the mould. Tiswas Reunited is new and exclusive to ITV1, spring 2007.

Tiswas Reunited will be the biggest, noisiest, messiest most colourful show Saturday night television has seen for quite some time and the original team of regulars will all be there: Chris Tarrant, Sally James, Lenny Henry, Bob Carolgees, John Gorman, Sylvester McCoy and Frank Carson.

Additionally, there will be lots of other familiar Tiswas faces in the audience. Many celebrities who took part in the show and were a part of the shows success will be there with their personal memories of Tiswas, and many more will be interviewed on location.

The list of guests who appeared on Tiswas reads like a Whos Who of showbusiness, as it was always considered to be the coolest series and the show to be seen on.

Tiswas Reunited is a celebration of the first, the most anarchic and the most groundbreaking Saturday morning kids series in British television history.
Spend an evening with the stars, wallowing in nostalgiaand custard!

Tiswas Reunited is exclusive to ITV1, Spring 2007.
Bet they saw the Swap Shop show and thought they'd copy it.

Was Tiswas on at the roughly the same time (era) as Swap Shop? James knows about things like this.
I was a Swap Shop viewer back in the day. I may've been just a bit too young to appreciate the delights of Sally James at that time.

1980/1-ish - I've got the first episode. It's NOT good.

Ah. I hardly saw any telly in the early 80's. I was out all the time!

I watched Tiswas, Wayne, and I'm younger than you!

Central actually! Or to be exact it was right in the middle of the ATV/Central cross over.
I don't know the exact time but it was on late at night from 2/1/1982 to 3/4/1982 (13 eps).

It must be a short lived series called "Sin on Saturday" I'm recalling then

I'm pretty sure they pulled it off the air before the series ended because it was too controversial at the time for BBC1.

Although the latter wasn't networked nationally throughout, so not all regions showed it during all of that era - it might have only been on in your area for a relatively short time, Wayne.

I remember watching both Swap Shop and Tizwas! OTT was terrible though. I'm still traumatised by see an episode as a kid which involved men doing a ballon dance!!!

I forgot to tape it. My dad won't be happy, he texted me specifically to ask me to tape it...
