    Default Brian Clemens R.I.P.

I'm sure you've all heard by now the sad news of Brian Clemens' passing. His contribution to British TV and film was enormous. And of course, he was the main man behind The Avengers. Even in those early B&W videotape days he was contributing classic stories such as "Brief For Murder" and "Don't Look Behind You". But it's those classic, far-out stories whose style came to dominate the Rigg & Thorson era for which Brian will be most remembered.

I've got a lot to thank The Avengers for, not least for introducing me to some of the people off this forum who remain close friends to this day. So in turn, I've a lot to thank Brian for. Thank you for "putting arse to seat and pen to paper" for all those years.

    R.I.P. Brian Clemens.

One of the greats of making television for the greatest to appear on television.
And yet there will be no live broadcast to a tearful and upset Patrick McNee's house on Sky News over this though.
That's how modern television has betrayed Clemens.

He was quite incredibly prolific and made writing for TV seem so effortless and easy to do. I was lucky enough to hear him talk extensively at the Avengers 50th celebration in 2011, and he was do eloquent and witty.
And what a body of work he leaves behind. It's quite a legacy!

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Yes, very sad news. They've just started repeating the b&w Mrs Peel series, which I've been enjoying greatly, so if nothing else he's left behind an amazing legacy. RIP Brian.

Yes, sad news indeed. He was one of the most prolific and talented writers to work on tv, but sadly he's not the household name that he should be. His name may be forgotten by the general public, but his work certainly isn't. It's nice to see runs of both The Avengers and The Professionals on tv at the moment.

His last words were "I did quite a good job."
Aw. That's so sweet. Good old Brian.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

He certainly did a great job not only with the Avengers but with the Professionals.

R.I.P Brian. Thanks for all the great T.V.

That certainly deserves to be remembered among the great 'last words'.

RIP Brian, keeping us entertained right to the end.
