    Default Jenna Coleman Quits

Jenna Coleman quits as the Time Lord's assistant

Doctor Who companion Jenna Coleman has quit the time-travelling sci-fi series – to spend more time in the 19th Century.

Jenna – who plays time and space-hopping Clara Oswald – has landed a major role as Queen Victoria in a £10million ITV drama.

Jenna, 29, has been companion to both Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi in her three years with the Doctor - the longest-serving assistant since the series was rebooted in 2005.

She is thought to have already filmed her final scenes for the hit BBC1 show, and will bow out before the Christmas special.

I'm not terribly surprised- 2.5 seasons and specials is a very good run.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Hate to say it but I'm quite pleased. I've no issues with Coleman, just the way the character was written.

    Indeed, monitor, indeed.

I don't dislike Clara at all, but there is a natural ending for companions & the time has indeed come...IMO.

It's coming out today - ... erm, that she's quit, that is

I've filmed my last scenes... it was emotional

It will happen at some point this season,

There's not a lot of jobs where you get to go to work and have a spaceship and an alien as your best mate and also run away from monsters.

It's been in the works for a very long time.

I think I'm in denial... I kind of believe I still have a key to the Tardis - which I might do, because I kind of stole it.

And I stole some other bits and pieces!
