    Default Are You *Still* Being Served? - 60 Years of Television Comedy

    The BBC are remaking a selection of classic sitcoms to mark the 60th anniversary since the broadcast of the the first Tv comedy (Hancock's Half Hour). Are You Being Served? will feature Jorgie Porter, Roy Barraclough, Sherrie Hewson and John Challis!!
    Porridge, The Good Life and Keeping Up Appearances are also on the way.

    While it may seem like a good idea to BBC planners, this whole scenario is a bit of a minefield actually, isn't it? While the idea of recreating a missing episode of Dads Army with a Doctor Who-style animation is one thing, any attempt at actually remaking these old series is open to any number of pitfalls. Of course, it's understandable where episodes are missing and a recreation may be better then nothing, but generally these series were products of their time, and worked so well largely because of classic casting decisions creating a chemistry between characters which is unlikely to be recreated in a one-off remake.

    I'm looking forward to seeing Frank Spencer on our screens again, though...
