Friday Poll - No.5: Tom VS Jerry
Life is a vicious struggle for these two.
Constant bickering and violence. Fear. Knives. The ever present threat of the fatal mousetrap or garden rake. Or B Flat.
But which one of these loveable cartoon characters do you prefer? Is it Tom the Cat, or Jerry the Mouse? Who should win out in this eternal battle of wills? Would you prefer to see Jerry finally get what's coming to him and to be popped whole into Tom's mouth, ground down and digested? Or should Tom take his final visit to the vet?
Jump on your stools and scream as the voting commences!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

It's an impossible choice. You can't have one without the other! You'll be asking us to vote for Laurel or Hardy, next!
So, i'll vote for a Spike! One dog who never shits on pavement.

I have to agree with Wayne it's a tough choice. Sometimes it's Jerry who's the perpretrator and sometimes Tom. I love that one where the two of them plus Spike all draw up a peace treaty until a juicy steak arrives on the scene.
I'm going to have to sit on the fence for a bit on this one

Being a cat lover, i'm voting for Tom.
We've watched loads of Tom & Jerry on Boomerang this Easter - Christians well into it, lol!

I voted for Tom, Jerry is after all a thieving chav type who spends his whole life trying to get food for free, and he's never done a decent days work in his life. Plus Tom always loses, and is viciously mauled all the time, so it'd be nice if he won the day just once.
Having said that, Jerry's going to win now, just because so far in these polls I've lost every time."RIP Henchman No.24."

Mouse:
Think I might go out for a stroll
Into the night, and out of this hole.
Maybe find me a meal.
Walking along this new shag pile
Presents a problem all the while.
Nearly the door.
Suddenly he bumps into wood, the door is closed.
A voice from the bed, he'll be exposed.
Which way to run, must make for the hole,
The light's been turned on, he's blind as a mole in coal.
Now I can see they're coming at me,
They've blocked off my door, I haven't a chance in hell.
Couple:
Come on baby let the poor thing go.
I'm not sleeping with that thing around here, no.
Alright then, I'll fetch a box from below,
Guard him carefully, they're very quick you know.
Mouse:
The door's been opened, my chance to escape.
Must run out quick, better sorry than late.
I'm out on the stairs.
They won't catch me now, I've the run of the house now.
I'll make it downstairs and into the breadbin.
That would be nice.
Suddenly he bumps into fur, that's very unwise,
A cat is much quicker than men and their eyes.
The chase that ensues can have only one end,
Unless outside help steps in for our friend in need.
But now the cat comes in for the kill,
His paw is raised, soon blood will spill, yes it will.
Cat:
Hard luck mouse, this is the end of your road.
The signpost says inside me, let me bear your heavy load.
But it's not to be, that final pounce
Knocks a jar upon his head, and lays him out.
But it's all in a mouse's night
To take on all those who would fight.
Cat's Story:
There I was with my back to the wall,
Then comes this monster mouse, he's ten feet tall,
With teeth and claws to match.
It only took one blow.

I ask you, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury - would you like to see your home invaded, your food stolen, and when you try and rid yourself of the perpentrator behind such events, they infact brutally attack you and often leave you for dead? Is this acceptable behaviour in this day and age? For if it is, then we might as well just give up on civilisation and go back to living in caves, for we deserve no better!!!

Yes but if it wasn't for Jerry Tom wouldn't have had a job!
Time and time again Tom's antics were put up with just because Jerry was there! That cat would have been given the boot long ago - they were ready to replace him with an electric one I recall quite readily...
Yup, without Jerry Tom wouldn't have enjoyed his life of luxury in that house and don't you forget it!
